Sky News 2015 new look

That was exactly the same with the old graphics.

It fits in nicely when the Sky Sports News HQ HD graphics come on screen, but it does look a bit odd when only the ticker is there.

Overall, I think the graphics are an improvement. On Freeview, the graphics do seem clearer (despite the dire picture quality), and the layout of the graphics is distinctive, but not confusing.

The edge-to-edge design is an improvement, especially with the "slices" design they've chosen for the straps.

The music is still poor - they haven't ever topped the mad pianist package they used from 2003 -2005 - but the rest of the look does still exude "Sky News" without eschewing modernity.

I'm liking the new set of graphic etc, but the voiceover is missing. That's the only, and biggest let down for me.

I love the rearranged music don´t know what´s the problem with it, I think it´s better than the 2010 one and in the pre 2005 era, just the 2005-10 theme was better IMO.

With this new graphics, I would have put the clock beside the logo to have a clear full screen ticker free of obstacles.

During the Press Preview, it looks really cluttered with the white bar, the ticker which seems to have shrunk even more when watching in SD and contact details for viewers which are very unlikely to be used unless they really need to pad it out.

I disagree - It's not that thin at all, especially if you have overscan turned off, and the white as I said is a very bright, distracting colour. Even if it was in line with the previous colour scheme, a dark blue for example, it wouldn't be as bad. Here's a screenshot with an added border so it's easier to see just how much space is being used.

I can't see these terrible TOTH titles lasting. I didn't like the last 'elevator' titles and these are only slightly better.

It looks like someone is demo-ing a responsive website to you, except they are doing it too fast and you can't really read any of it or see what's going on. And even when you do see what they are doing, it seems the site doesn't work as the Top Story on the desktop view is different to that which appears on the mobile view.

It's just weird. Maybe they need to go back to the future. What was so wrong with the globe Sky used for years?



Indeed, even the old Sky News Centre looks better than what you see now. Despite having a massive fancy studio, we never get to see any of it any more. At the very end of the clip above, the red breaking news sequence remains exceptionally effective.

I just can not believe they dropped the iconic Sky News voiceover. TOTH is beyond bland now. There's no real opening, just the repetitive headline music from the start. Sky News TOTH has been getting worse and worse over the years.

I think it makes aligning the text on the astons a bit easier on the eye having the clock bottom left.
