As I'm sure you're all losing sleep over bid-up V3 I thought to bridge the gap I would create a simulation of price-drop.tv
The sim is now ready for download:
price-drop.tv simulator
Run instal32.exe to install - non XP people probably need to extract to a temp folder first
Your computer must be able to support 800x600. It will run full-screen and to quit either click the EXIT button or Alt+F4.
The writer element has now been combined into the same program.
Drop description: The ticker at the bottom.
Guide Price: What it apparently sells for in shops.
Quantity: Think about it...
Click the 'let's price-drop' button to start the simulator.
It's not very interactive, and there isn't any music yet but there is a couple of sound effects. I've tried to make the buying habits quite realistic so that the drops finish at an almost plausible price.
Some features:
Price drops at a faster or slower rate depending on what number it's at.
Buyers come in when they want. There are some tactics - some people come in very early but lots rush in at the end.
Price plunges on certain higher value drops with sound effects, and buyer rush.
'First five' graphics at end of drop.
I think the graphics are quite accurate, but there's no animations and not much transition yet. There is no music yet - I'm working on getting some soon and I know the bit at the bottom should scroll names, but I'm too pathetic to fix it yet
There's a few other niggles - strange buying tactics but overall it should be OK. Don't try strange drops eg. 1 with a guide price of £1 or your computer will explode (well....it will finish quickly and that's about it).
If a drop gets to £0 without enough buyers then the auction becomes void.
Please let me know what you think so far!
