The colour of the green ball used in snooker is almost identical to the colour of the teal box. Couldn't they have used a ball?

We know how much BBC Two are sticklers for sticking to brand guidelines - almost identical just wouldn't be good enough.

I think it's a good concept but from start from when the rest hits the table... and maybe without the giggling. The "character" of the '2' was usually reserved for stings rather than the idents during the 1991-2001 era. The '2's in the idents were usually pretty stable, and definitely wouldn't have laughed either.

Ah yes, that is why the giggling didn't bode well with me. It reminded me of the 1991-2001 era of stings, not saying I don't adore most of them, although, some of them have not aged well (graphically).

The giggling doesn't work with a voice over. Maybe if it giggled just the once before the announcer comes in, it would work okay. The concept itself is fun enough.

In an *extremely rare* example of fixing something that looked unnecessarily bad, the "you can't watch this on BBC Two HD" Car loop has been amended so it plays at normal speed, music in sync.

Does this double as the breakdown slide btw?

I don't know about the occasion when you viewed it, but I saw it today (at 5:55pm, just after Antiques Roadshow), and it was hopelessly out of sync.

Is the clock still in the BBC ONE font as well, or have they finally changed that?

Does anyone have the book Martin Lambie-Nairn wrote awhile back? Apparently it had prototype 2's and unused idents in it but I haven't been able to get my hands on it as its been out of print for awhile now.

There are used copies available on the Amazon UK and US sites that I can see - aren't there any available on the New Zealand site (presuming that's where you're from based on your signature)?

We don't have Amazon in NZ. I can't find it anywhere.

Amazon.com will deliver to New Zealand although you will have to pay special shipping rates and it will take a few days to get to you.
