God help us. ITV/C5 daytime stuff on the BBC News channel. With the graphics and the clips I've seen it looks like a cross between This Morning and Loose Women.

Looking forward to the fashion features and the soap news.

I certainly agree with this tweet:

It's certainly a good opportunity for Sky News to capture the audience who may not like the show for whatever reason. Very interested to see how this will play out.

Sounds awful, and as others have said its a significant part of the day for news channels. Very often events in this period set up the news agenda for the rest of the day.

The Kay Burley Show (or Afternoon Live as I think it was known) still had its content based on the news agenda of the day, and was a so called 'appointment to view' show in a breaking news environment. This has a different feel, its a production, with a separate team, with features prepared in advance, no doubt guests booked, audience prepped and a running order.

When news breaks there may be an interesting conflict between ditching the running order, letting VD run with events, or going back to proper breaking news mode.

Which I'd the same as 5 Live who ditch guests and features when there's significant breaking news.

The say that breaking news will be part of the show. However I'm not sure if important breaking news should be covered by Victoria Derbyshire sat on a stall with swirly daytime TV style graphics.

I should imagine the news channel will do as it has been for a while now and cut to BBC World News as soon as a big international story breaks.

The 9.15am start time kind of says it all. They're clearly trying to attract viewers switching over at the end of Breakfast's fluffy 45 minutes.

It's not what the News Channel should be at that time of day. And i'm not sure a month before a General Election is a good time to launch it. But of course, it should be given a chance. It might surprise us all.

Is it wrong to be hoping for some sort of major breaking story which pre-empts this crap in the morning?

She's been speaking to the Radio Times about the new show.

Slightly strange interview, seems less about the show and more about them sticking their nose in her personal life.

That is a terrible interview and does nothing to encourage the reader to watch the show at all for any reason other than pity it seems.
