Seem to be more sharing of content but that's not a bad thing and on the whole every move seems a positive move. The Riverside Show and Fountainbridge Show though both losing half an hour by the looks of it.

Again no bad thing as 90mins was FAR to long, this makes it more streamlined. Hopeful Its expanded back during the Festival period.

I wonder where the 8.30 programme will be resloted?

I hear from a certain other media forum website that STV mostly employs Students for these Local channels. If they manage to produce a popular enough service with few staff whilst providing better programming by merging some of the local channel content then I believe this could eventually be the end of STV's 'sub-Regional' News on the main STV channel (C3/ITV). This would result in a C3 service similar to the BBC's offering (especially if STV manage to get hold of Border Scotland one day...).

Or something totally different altogether... Smile

You imagine that with pretty much every announcement made and use it as an excuse to repost your regional news theories yet again. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that using students in their local channels means STV will be allowed to give up their regionality on the main network - indeed if anything having local channels pretty much aligned with the regions gives them the resources to keep them.

Its well know Students are employed to operate the channels hence the reason the uni joint bids for the local channels.
Glasgow Caledonian University and Edinburgh Napier University.

Henece the reason joint bids with three uni are in for the other local channels. http://www.stvplc.tv/blog/2014/10/stv-bids-for-local-tv-licences-in-aberdeen-ayr-and-dundee

Looking at the schedules seems both the Riverside Show and Fountainbridge Show get repeat outings in the morning and afternoon on both channels and then apart from the news it is a largely unified service.

Interesting too seeing the media spin on it - STV unsurprisingly concentrating on the extended hours while the BBC spin it more as a merger and "backdoor STV2".

According to a friend who can see it on the EPG:

So the first night of big centre tv is local news, a music programme about local musicians and repeats of crossroads and then some ice hockey.

They are also showing Paul and Nick's Big Food Trip which is also one of the launch shows of UTV Ireland.

Yep, here's what's on the first evening of Big Centre TV:
1800 Opening Night
1900 The Midland (news)
1930 Crossroads (classic episode)
2000 Crossroads Reopened! ('tonight we check in with some of those who made Birmingham's famous soap opera')
2030 Project M (showcase of new musicians from the region)
2130 The Midland (more news)
2200 Ice Hockey (Solihull Barons v Coventry)

Doesn't sound too bad. I think Crossroads is a good call, and showcasing a minority sport like Ice Hockey could be good

Was Crossroads ever a good call? Ice Hockey is though - think it is relatively strong across the midlands and a little bit of sport makes them a proper channel. Still rather worried though this channel will be set in the 80s.

Here's a couple of pics from a recording of what appears to be called 'CuppaTV' on Big Centre TV.
