They share a stream, playout - everything. All that happens at 6:58pm is the stream is moved from one placeholder (or LCN) to another. Same with Cbeebies and BBC Four.
Last night on Iplayer,I looked at BBC 3 at just before 7 and it shown 3-5 secs of the CBBC close... I'm confused.

They're the same channel. If you have a freeview receiver that doesn't have an EPG, you can sit and watch straight through without needing to change stream.

BBC iPlayer next update (Early March)
Likely to include
1. 720/50p HD Video as new HD standard on Connected Devices
2. Subchannels for BBC Four Archive Collections, Exclusives, Red Button and Sport Website only content and
3. the BBC Store backend.
BBC Store probably due live in April.

Interesting comment tonight from new Trust Chair Rona Fairhead, suggesting programming more important over tech with audiences. Interesting to see how that pans out with the Executive over the coming months, Seems to be challenging spend and at the same time offering some defence.,
The BBC’s roles in technology and the creative economy do not resonate so directly with audiences. I am not surprised, as they are mainly interested in content. But I am in no doubt that the BBC’s work in both of these areas is critically important.

That would be great for viewers with the iPlayer Smart TV app who live in editorial areas of regions that they don't receive via Freeview. without having to wait for it to be uploaded.

I remember as well that in a recent iPlayer app update they mentioned the ability in the near future to watch live regional streams after setting your region in the app.

An overhaul to BBC homepage. Responsive design, led by images and less-cluttered.
