With this I don't think it's the team. The team behind it put together a very good, modern, sleek, quick and newsier programme at launch, and I'm presuming that over the 8 months their hands have now been tied by someone who yet again thinks that by reverting to the past the viewers will come back.
As the programme went out today it was daybreak mk2 with a different set and graphics.
I think the show is ultimately doomed in its current format regardless of small graphic changes, sport being moved to the periphery etc for one main reason. The content is really lousy! It's post Eammon and Fiona GMTV all but in name. The content isn't engaging and IMO Ben hasn't enough gravitas to work with Suzanna. I'd move to a more news based ITN production produced by a different team to the one which moves from one breakfast reincarnation to the next. Improve the editorial standards and the show may flourish.
Why not just stick to the format they brought in on April 28th instead of making changes? The only thing I would have altered is the background to show the darker side and a different winter opener.
I like the way the opening showed the four presenters and Laura when the camera came in; I wish they would leave the programme as it was instead of making changes?
Who are they trying to appeal to exactly and what do the people they are trying to appeal to really want; Loose Women at 6AM because if that is the case I would switch off?
I really don't like Susanna, I just can't stand her loud laughs and fake smiles and how she almost shouts down the microphone. I also feel too about how Sean must think about being there occasionally and I think it would work a lot better with just two presenters at the desk reading out the main news like they do on breakfast. I also think the content is really poor and its gone from news program to complete utter rubbish about celebrities. I must say its got rather bad, Ive started to watch Sky in the morning - its actually quite good although there are a lot of adverts to get through!

Perhaps the tone got informal because it's nearly Christmas. Is it even worse than Daybreak?
I don't know why they bother with all these expensive relaunches, when they are just repackaging Daybreak.
To be honest, a proper change behind-the-scenes is needed, and a proper re-think of the breakfast slot. I really think it's time ITN get a shot at doing it.

To me, it comes across a lot worse than Daybreak because Susanna is a proper journalist, and it was properly intended as a newsier programme. All in all though, GMB is newsier by a small margain.
I have always defended GMB but despite preferring ITV Breakfast to BBC's, Good Morning Britain has slipped.
The show started with a good premise - news. Since April it has become a different show with less emphasis on real, breaking, stories and more focus on "look at X marrying Y" and I feel it is a massive shame - it is almost as if a rebrand has occurred and but no one was informed.
I still believe that the show has promise, I can't deny it that. It just needs to go back to April and have all the 4 presenters, yes ITV let's not forget Sean, at the desk delivering that mornings headlines in the way they had planned. If ITV like to please those who like the entertainment stuff I'd suggest handing over after 8 - 8:35 to more light-hearted stuff, at this point we could even have delegation to the sofa area with 2 presenters talking with guests about the showbiz stuff they enjoy. At the TOTH the main headlines would be read out in full and clips from "earlier on GMB" could be shown here but after that they would discuss the entertainment stuff.
I like the feel of GMB I really do, I know people don't like Susanna but I actually do and think she could be great, so could they all, if they did the show better.
What I like about ITV Breakfast is that it is more light-hearted in the sense I feel more comfortable waking up to the presenters and look of the show than I do BBC Breakfast. What I don't want from GMB is light-hearted in the fashion of no proper news and early morning junk, if they wanted that then they should have left Daybreak alone.
I think maybe the tone
has
intentionally been less serious with the lead-up to Christmas and all in all that doesn't bother me because Christmas is a time when, I believe, things should be calmer and more peaceful if that's what GMB is trying to capture at this point in time, great. However, in the January I'm hoping to have "April GMB".
So no one is surprised at all they've made exactly the same mistakes as they made with Daybreak. I would bet by the time Charlotte goes on maternity they'll be down to just Susanna and Ben and the desk will probably be gone, as will Sean.

I dunno, I'm really wanting them to make a massive fanfare about faces from the past, and present, guesting in the news slot, and one proving successful and joining the show sharing with Charlotte, Ranvir and Kate.
If ITV decide to replace GMB then a massive realignment of the schedule needs to be done. ITN should do the breakfast franchise, 5:30 to 6:00, reopen at 6:00 looking the same and go until 7. After 7, the current format of GMB takes over until 9, then an ITN update until 9:25 and the Lorraine, JK, This Morning, News, LW etc
