Thanks. Is there any word on other buildings having the DTL upgrade?

A few of them were done between 2009 and now.

Birmingham's was moved into a former edit suite next to the Midlands Today studio and uses a green LED ring and scotchlite background for keying

And a loop of the Birmingham skyline, that's roughly 6 years out of date.

Directly behind the right shoulder of whoever is being interviewed, you can see the boom arms of two tower cranes.
This was when construction of the 'Two Snow Hill' office development was halted just after the financial crash - it started again in 2011 - and the cranes were left on the site during the downtime.

Ironically, over the next couple of years, some of the DTL interviewees from Birmingham, will be NIMBY's banging on about the HS2 rail line. The construction offices HQ of HS2? Two Snow Hill. It's behind youuuu!!!

Absolutely awful backdrop IMO

They got into some hot water when the current DTL studio went live, they 'borrowed' (read took without permission and used) an image of the Birmingham skyline from someone's Flickr page...

They also seem to use a really poor shot of Birmingham taken from the roof of Gas Street Studios (home to ITV Central!), the same camera feed that used to appear on ITVLocal.com

Also looking closely, you can see that the Christmas lights have somehow been left up and switched on constantly for 6 years, even during the Summer months.

If anything the backdrop needs a revamp, that grainy piece of footage has had its day.

Better than stealing someone's intellectual property, then only wanting to pay a small amount to the content creator after realising the blunder (read: being caught out)...

The ending here was the photographer got awarded £600 by the BBC, after originally offering only £75...

Although it's not stated where that pic of the wrong Birmingham came from and if anybody got paid for that!

But there's no evidence to suggest it was used unlawfully...

Seems as if it was Victoria Davies's last night on Central tonight and is off to Bristol according to this tweet from Matt:

She was a Central South remnant but she wasn't a favourite of mine admittedly.

Absolutely awful and hasn't improved in over 8 years on screen!

That photo brings out the lovely quality of the screen image - it's a shame that it looks so grainy on broadcast.

Something I've been wanting to know. Have any BBC & ITV regions ever shared facilities - a shared newsroom, equipment, etc.?
