'Partly' is stretching it somewhat don't you think? The BBC became more populist in 1999, ITV ditched News at Ten around the same time and then went through numerous time changes and lost the viewership. Not to mention the huge budget difference between BBC and ITV. That's pretty much why the ratings are what they are now for ITV not the fact they have a virtual set.

I know. They are awful. ITV's downfall in the ratings is

due to its obsession with virtual sets. Way to go, Deborah Turness.
When I say "partly" - of course, I mean it is a small part, but nonetheless, it severs a real connection between the viewer and the station or the presenters.
