I know. They are awful. ITV's downfall in the ratings is partly due to its obsession with virtual sets. Way to go, Deborah Turness.

When I say "partly" - of course, I mean it is a small part, but nonetheless, it severs a real connection between the viewer and the station or the presenters.

'Partly' is stretching it somewhat don't you think? The BBC became more populist in 1999, ITV ditched News at Ten around the same time and then went through numerous time changes and lost the viewership. Not to mention the huge budget difference between BBC and ITV. That's pretty much why the ratings are what they are now for ITV not the fact they have a virtual set.

A bit of late answers...

I didn't like MBC's previous efforts for the lack of consistency (like different headline bed to the opening theme), but at least I did like the opening theme from 90s. But now, all of MBC's television news bulletins have the worst music in its history.

On the day before their move, MBC aired their report on Newsdesk's past looks. (Hope this works for your browser and/or in your country.)

And back to South Korea, it wasn't just MBC that ditched their longtime theme: SBS' SBS 8 News also got a new theme (and a new opening sequence):

At least, the effort from the SBS 8 O'Clock News and their other television bulletins is much better than MBC's. The 8 pm bulletin has been their flagship news programme since the broadcaster's launch in 1991. Overall has been improved since then.

I couldn't find any example other than the intro, so here is the link to yesterday's full bulletin. (Hope this too works for you.)

MBC's set looks like the BBC's, and SBS' music and graphic sounds and looks like the BBC's. What in the world were they thinking!

In Spain, Antena 3 Noticias relaunched last Tuesday, with new graphics, new music, a refreshed set (with a much smaller desk) and new presenter lineups for the 9pm weeknight edition and the weekend editions.

And here's how the set looks like on the 3pm edition:

I like it, but the lower thirds could have been better. Its too big and too... (What should I say? Basic?)

By the way, their music sounds like something from the BBC. Has the BBC News been the trend setter for everything?

my English isn't that good at all

Your English is excellent!

Thanks. But even though I do, I'm not sure if I can find someone's observation on it with neutral point of view.

And just a reminder for everyone...
As of this week, I'm on an assignment for about a month, so I may not be able to make comment and answer your questions. Wish me a better luck for that time. Until then, see you again.

That microphone is quite a thing! Wonder why they didn't use a boom instead?

Probably due to the space of the studio and the wires all over the place.

As it turns out, it's not the same set after all. According to Hazim at tvnewstalk.net, commenting on this clip, "Studio N1 is used by Heute Plus at the same time when Logo was aired, usually Logo airs from Studio N1 sharing with Heute, ZDF Info's Heute Plus and ZDF Mittagsmagazin). Look closely at the wooden desk; the desk at Studio N2 is shorter and smaller than Studio N1."

And it's not even a half-decent copy as it doesn't integrate the set with the graphics like the original does:

As we've already seen here, TV stations in Kosovo and Albania have a penchant for *ahem* borrowing French presentation:

And, of course, there's also the case of Prva TV in Serbia using RTL's news graphics (although in this case, some online commentators have said that Prva TV actually licensed the graphics from RTL):

Speaking of copies, here's TV3 in Malaysia using a virtual set strongly "inspired" by Germany's ZDF:
