It looks as if Granada Reports are using the studio background again as tonight it had the winter look. A bit surprising really when it is still light at 6PM and clocks go back in another month.

What I don't get is that the winter look makes no difference, they either have a window with a dark view outside or turn everything around to face a dark newsroom with a few lights, people walking past and several bright screens showing the ITV News website on them. I like the current studio set up but I think they're suffering during dark periods alá Daybreak 1.0, hopefully they will never install blinds! It doesn't stop them using the window view during the Good Morning Britain bulletins, and certainly the pre 7am ones this week have been dark at this time of the day.

It also doesn't matter if it is dark outside like it did for Daybreak. Nobody wants to wake up to darkness, but it doesn't make a difference for an evening news programme.
Generally though, I think the quality doesn't look great. The set looks very cold compared to NWT and indeed even the old generic set used in other regions.
Never really paid attention but presumably those using the old regional studios do use a darker version of any fake backdrop over winter than over summer.
I do prefer the reverse view though in the Granada Studio - is it slightly different too to last years?

Indeed. Granada Reports itself did at Quay Street.
I think the plasmas look very washed out too. Not sure whether that's to do with being in an area lit by natural light though.
Noticed today that the ident now has a name check for the presenters. Also something I have not seen since Quay Street days, they started the show from in front of the set with the TV Wall Screen brought towards the front.
After tonight's late bulletin there was, shock horror, an actual promo for Granada Reports, with highlights from the past week. How long have they been doing this?
