I'm not a fan of the current 5 News look, but the editorial has improved dramatically since returning to ITN.
I'd like to see Matt and Emma present together - a more traditional newscast from a desk at 5, with a more relaxed magazine type show at 6.30 from a sofa perhaps?
I'm not talking a return to Live From Studio 5 (god help us) but something a bit more engaging than the current chat fest.

Or even the return of the high chairs from the previous 5 News at 6.30?

I'll be honest and say that I don't remember much of the Isla Traquir era, but at the moment I don't think 5 maximise the talents of Matt and Emma. I think they would also benefit from having a dedicated sports person and maybe even a weather presenter in the studio - which would give both newscasts a point of difference to the competition.

I would imagine its a tight budget already, so another presenter in the studio would cost a bit, sport probably isnt worth tackling at 5pm on Channel 5, with no major sports rights.
I dont know where Sian records the weather, but I think it would be good to see her in the studio every now & again for weather related stories (Sian is a weather presenter not Met Office trained)

Sian pre-records her bulletins in the main news studio. They have used Sian in the studio during major weather events, such as the floods last winter.
I'm not advocating adding another presenter - just pairing up Matt and Emma on both shows. 5 used to have dedicated sports presenters back in the 90's - Trish and Lee I believe - (god I'm sad) - who presented a roundup of all the sports news.
