I'm mostly surprised by the opt-out from GMB!

They must have got the OK from ITV to let them do it, but I would imagine that GMB will be covering it from their end for the rest of the UK...

Of course there could interact reports, since GMB will have reaction from England etc and GMB take reports from STV etc.

In case it slipped under the radar: BBC NE&C did their own debate programme earlier this evening, "Scotland and Us": http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04gn3ql

plus BBC Scotland's latest, "The Debate": http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04gr0ln

The GMB opt out is the most interesting, must be a first, well excluding when UTV did the same without asking.

BBC Wales Politics have just tweeted this:

https://twitter.com/walespolitics/status/507917145641353219

Which roughly translates (via Gooogle) that this is the referendum desk which is being test driven on Sunday.

Looks like it's an S4C programme at 9:30pm coming from Glasgow

Impressive coverage from STV. Opting out of network news and GMB is a bit of a surprise.

STV Group plc posted:
STV has confirmed an extensive overnight results programme on Thursday 18 September, presented by Bernard Ponsonby and Aasmah Mir, with live reports from all 32 declarations across Scotland and complemented by in-depth online coverage on stv.tv throughout the night.

On the day of the crucial vote, Thursday 18 September, STV will bring viewers comprehensive programming starting with a special edition of STV News at Ten at 2200, presented live from Edinburgh by John MacKay, which will mark the end of the referendum campaign and report the story of Scotland’s historic vote, with coverage from across Scotland.

From 2240 until 0600, STV will broadcast an all-night results programme, Scotland Decides. The programme will be hosted by political editor Bernard Ponsonby and TV and radio presenter Aasmah Mir with a panel of leading politicians, commentators and analysts, and STV’s news teams will report live from all 32 declarations across Scotland as they happen through the night. Extensive online coverage will be provided on stv.tv with result updates and analysis throughout the night.

Scotland Decides will be broadcast across the ITV network, and STV News at Ten will be broadcast by ITV Border Scotland.

During week beginning Monday 15 September, STV’s news programme STV News at Six will be presented from Holyrood by John MacKay bringing the key referendum news to viewers across the country.

On Friday 19 September at 0600, following its overnight results programme, STV will air Scotland This Morning – How the Nation Voted, hosted by John MacKay and Andrea Brymer. The programme will examine the outcome of the historic vote with reactions from around the country as Scotland wakes up to the result.

Friday’s coverage continues with a special half hour edition of STV News at 1330 followed by an hour long STV News at Six, presented from Holyrood and covering all the latest developments and featuring live reports from across Scotland and Westminster.

Finally, a special edition of Scotland Tonight presented by Rona Dougall will air at 2230 on Friday 19 September, bringing full analysis of the vote and political reaction, and a half hour long STV News Special will air on Saturday 20 September at 1830.

Impressive. The overnight programme is being broadcast by ITV as well. Shocked Didn't think that would happen.

According to Digiguide ITV are showing their own version with Alastair Stewart.

As others have said it's the opt out from Good Morning Britain which is most surprising - common sense doesn't usually prevail in these circumstances.

Nothing surprising from the BBC - network coverage on BBC1/News with Huw and BBC Scotland coverage on BBC Parliament. Reporting Scotland is also on BBC Parliament every night except Thursday that week.

S4C also having their own coverage from 10.30pm-6.30am.

Didn't someone say something about ITV being concerned about having their coverage fronted by people unknown to most of the UK? I'd be surprised to see ITV just use STV's coverage (and if they did I think it's a given that there'd be a fair few STV logos about like in the debate ITV simulcast).

Are Reporting Scotland doing a Scottish Breakfast again like they did a few years ago? I didn't catch it when it aired and haven't found much talk of it here from the time, let alone any video - would be interesting to see how closely they follow the Breakfast format.

Doesn't the same logic that the BBC are applying (BBC Scotland doing a programme for Scotland with BBC News doing a programme for the rest of the UK) also apply to ITV? You wouldn't expect ITV to network the STV show, you'd expect an ITN produced programme for the rest of the UK to be networked.

STV and BBC Scotland will be broadcasting to Scotland, ITV (with an ITN show) and BBC News (networked outside of Scotland) will be broadcasting to the rest of the UK. Makes perfect sense.

Hopefully ITV PLC and STV will allow the STV show to be broadcast in the Border Scotland area though.
