Isn't Studio A manned for cameras? Like Studio B, as far as I'm aware only Studio's C & E are automated.
Did you watch the clip above? Unless the cameraman is wearing a green bodysuit, that camera is remotely operated.
Seems that the robotic cameras have a mind of their own in studio A as well. One just decided to roll across right in front of Clive Myrie, nearly hitting him - causing a rather entertaining couple of moments. Hope someone cap'd it.

Studios C and E use Furio remote controlled cameras, on tracks, which can be controlled by Mosart automation recalling shots/moves (with these preset by a remote operator)
Studio B uses cameras mounted on Shotoku remote pan/tilt/elevate peds (but which are repositioned manually) - just as was the case in TC7 and N6 (and N1 in the 90s) at TVC. For some shows some of these peds are switched to local operation and have operators behind them. I don't know the level of Mosart control when in remote.
Studio A uses Shotoku remote pan/tilt/elevate peds BUT also, I believe, has a single robot camera which can track/crab under remote control as well. (Similar to the robot cameras used in N2 at TVC) The cameras in Studio A have "christmas trees" on them that allow the cameras position, orientation etc. to be detected by an array of CCTV-style cameras around the periphery of the studio that "see" the christmas trees.

Studio B has remote pedestals (and I think one totally manual ped), not robots. Studio A has a single robot and the rest are remote.
(A remote is a remote control pan/tilt head - often with remote elevate/depress - but on a static ped which can only be moved by a physical operator on the studio floor. A robot camera uses a similar pan/tilt/elevate system BUT also has a remotely controlled pedestal that can track and crab under remote control. Back in the old days at TVC, N1 had remotes, N2 had robots)

Cameras in E/C are on tracks and the ones in A/B are robotic pedestals, which can be manually operated from the floor and overridden IIRC. The system that selects the moves etc are the same I think.

Sounds interesting, do you have any links to any technical details?

Here's a picture of the cameras with the "Christmas Trees" : http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/corporate/images/width/live/p0/13/fl/p013fl10.jpg/624
That picture also clearly shows the robot and remote peds. The robot has a much thicker base as it has to house motors rather than just wheels!
Here's a link to a system that uses similar tech (not sure if the BBC use Cam Trak or not) http://www.motionanalysis.com/pdf/CamTrak.pdf

Top of the hour it's been so far with Jane Hill...
At what times are there news updates on Vote 2014 on the NC?

Not sure about that. They've certainly used C for obit rehearsals, but I would imagine that a News Special for something UK specific (eg weather related) that wouldn't be of interest to the global audience would I'm sure be in E. Although they might use C during the afternoon while World are in B to allow some rehearsal time.
Has it been confirmed somewhere that all BBC News Special broadcasts will come from Studio C?

well since the move to Broadcasting House, the BBC News Special regarding Baroness Thatcher came from C as did Mandela's news. However, where it only really concerned the UK such as the flooding, they used Studio B.

When they brung the breaking news for the Glasgow helicopter crash, we had Martine Croxall and Kasia Madera for the rest of the night simulcasting from Studio E
