Looks like they really want to keep the well-known jingle, so they come up with this.
True. And they've been using the four-note signature for thirty years or so, so they won't get rid of that anytime soon.
And they won't give up on the "plim-plim" either. And that jingle is even older, with its first incarnation dating from the mid-1970s (or even earlier). Here's a compilation of "plim-plim" breakbumpers between the 1970s and the '90s:
And, since they've been using the four-note signature and the "plim-plim" together on their idents for the past seven years, I was surprised that only one of three idents on their current collection has both signatures (the other two, as you may have seen, only have the four-note logo).
It's basically the previous logo without the Mickey Mouse outline, the modification of the tittle on the 'I' to the Mickey Mouse shape, and the word 'Channel' in a different font to make it look more interesting now that the outline has gone.
When will the new look arrive in the UK? I remember the previous new look taking quite a significant amount of time to appear compared to the US last time.

It's only in Germany at the moment, rest of Europe still on old logo.
