Yes, he seems to turn his hand to many things - he tends to come in for the big stories so obviously they rate him as one of CNN's heavies.

Lots of moves and departures at CNNI lately.

Zain Verjee has left the channel few weeks ago.
Mark McKay, sports anchor who worked there almost 30 years, left few days ago.

... and as suspected Hala is moving back to London.

Apparently there are to be more departures at the network plus big changes at CNN Hong Kong. We'll have to wait and see.

Oh dear - do we know where Zain is going - that is a loss Sad
Is Fionnuala venturing anywhere or is she still going to be stuck covering folk from Atlanta?

Don't know about Fiounnuala, she hasn't been seen last few weeks but before that was still covering in Atlanta. With Hala gone, I hope Finn and Jim Clancy can get more airtime and maybe even permanent slots. So far it hasn't been the case, with the newbee Amara Walker (hired from a local station but she is solid) getting the most exposure.

As for Zain, she left to focus on her own project.

She was severely underused at CNN last few years, with a 30 minute morning slot in London so I wasn't that surprised.

Sorry if this is a really daft question as I don't watch CNN very regularly these days, but it Colleen McEdwards still on the channel?

Really warmed to her - a thoroughly professional style which shone through on CNNI. I will certainly miss her.

Fionnuala is also underused and I do hope she doesn't go next!!!

Poaching by BBC World News?

I doubt it has anything to do with BBC, its more the case of CNN making cuts and trimming down the large number of presenters they have. Besides there have been layoffs in other departments as well.

Colleen left quietly few years ago, her last stint was doing two 15 minute early morning (7 & 8 cet) bulletins on weekends so it wasn't a surprise either. Its a shame cause she was great.

I forgot to mention this and it's very important. Last few months, thanks to Piers Morgan leaving and that missing airplane, CNNI has dramatically increased the amount of live news, to the point where it's almost at the same level as before 2009 when they started cutting back on it. Here's what changed. Weekday mornings used to be (all times in CET):

06.00 World Sport
06.30 Taped show
07.00 CNN Newsroom
08.00 CNN Newsroom
09.00 World Sport (replay)
09.30 Taped Show
10.00 World Business Today
......

.... and now it's like this:

06.00 CNN Newsroom
06.30 World Sport
07.00 CNN Newsroom
07.30 Taped show
08.00 CNN Newsroom
08.30 Taped Show
09.00 CNN Newsroom (this hour is simulcasted on CNN US)
10.00 WBT
.....

These changes happened cause of the missing airplane coverage where for the first month or so this shift was consisted of non stop rolling news that was simulcasted on CNN US overnight.

Thanks to Morgan leaving the 13.00 cet slot is now a simulcast of New Day while at 00.00 cet it's CNN Newsroom from HK. At 03.00 cet it's a simulcast of whatever's on domestic replacing Morgan.

On weekends there's more news bulletins (30 min editions at 6,7 and 8 am CET) plus a full hour at 11.00 cet which is simulcasted on domestic.

Blimey! I hadn't even noticed. She was good.

Colleen left to become a journalism professor at George State University. I believe she was even teaching in her final few years at CNN, which explained why she gradually started appearing less and less.

Interesting! Thanks for the info. I always thought Colleen was a great anchor so I can well believe she is perfect for teaching broadcast journalism.

I tuned into CNN on Monday and was delighted to see Rosemary Church is still kicking about - another face from CNN's heyday.

I take it Jim Clancy is no longer a CNN anchor? I haven't seen him in a long time, unless I'm just tuning in at the wrong times.

Does anyone know what Tumi Makgabo is up to these days?

Jim Clancy is still an anchor and correspondent. He was stationed in KL recently for weeks covering the MH370 story.

He fills in on World Report, Backstory, Newsroom and iDesk frequently, as well as his own weekly programme, The Brief.

Tumi is in South Africa, as far as I can recall.
