Because most have a news channel on all day. They do this in reception at work, and therefore it shows BBC London News in the opts.
Or someone on minimum wage just sticks on BBC1 as its the first channel that comes on.

Anecdotally, I'm not sure I could name a single hotel, supermarket, airport, office reception area or shopping centre that is likely to have ITV on in the mornings (or indeed at most times of the day, unless there's live sport). Anyone know of any?
I *suppose* there could be a gradual change if there was suddenly a reversal in ratings, but I suspect regardless of the quality a lot of people will favour BBC simply so as not to irritate their customers with the ads (is the "CNN at airport" stereotype everyone jokes about still true in the US?)

Ah, so someone went on a fact-finding mission to the States - and that's where all the new ideas are coming from?
Quite possibly! Although, to be fair, I haven't seen what's being suggested here anywhere else - when it comes to the local news inserts on the likes of Today or GMA, it's normally just something like "we'll be back after your local news..."

Definitely time-consuming - but not much when you compare it with the presenters on the US network morning shows, who do umpteen individual promos into the affiliates' local early-morning newscasts before each show.

Central USED to do travel news. Before they pruned back regional news. You'd have 5 minutes of news headlines and 2 minutes of travel and weather back in the GMTV days
It's simple really, a simple handover! '...but first, the news, weather and travel from your area' No need to complicate things. I don't know about any other region but Central don't even do travel news?

Back in the day Central did a travel news update in the evening, sponsored by Business Pages. There's a clip on TV Ark of one from 1997 with Harriet Scott (later of Heart and now BBC London 94.9).

Is tha going to be the opening day pre-scheduled news story, like what they like to do in first episodes, as it means they can reherse it.
Often looks poor if something newsworthy gets pushed down the agenda. Happens on the BBC as well when they do say 'NHS Week' or send the anchor on an OB all week.

Well the logo has been revealed so that is quite major.
There are 15 new pages to this thread since I logged on this morning. I assumed there's been some huge development that warranted a rush of posts. I was wrong.

That was last night and there hasn't been a lot discussion about it.

Checking out Phillipa Tomson's Instagram - came across it through #goodmorningbritain - It seems as though she has something to do with the show. She has posted an image of the logo, with the caption 'A new choccamochafrappacappuccino is on the way'. And an image of a direction pointer sign thing at ITV with 'Studio 5' on. The caption 'I've checked out the new #goodmorningbritain studio. It's fantastic and you'll find it somewhere in this direction
'.
