I do wonder how so many pages are filled on this thread with just a logo and a few pictures to go on...

Inexplicable, slightly scary obsession.

Respectfully, I'm calling B.S. - for the few pre-recorded links (intros to online content, etc) in the programme on which I work, they are done fairly hastily in an ad break - there is no way they could be done beforehand as the presenters are too busy familiarising themselves with actual content of the live current affairs broadcast they are about to conduct.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there are 14 regions, with 5 bulletins each during GMB, so that's 70 junctions they'll have to pre-record EVERY DAY.

Ridiculous.

Why would they have to record all 5? They only need to record one for each don't they?

Surely people will notice that they're the same? Even 14 is still a lot.

re: the regional intros, presumably need to do it at least 20 mins beforehand as well if it's recorded, to allow time to add clocks etc. and play it out again (unless the regions just have to grab it live and edit themselves) then still allow a bit of time for rehearsals (does much ever get rehearsed in breakfast TV these days?)

Do we know if the first bit still going to be a "Newshour" or have the programmes merged?

Also, one extra thing for regional staff to play in every time… are many of them self-op / really short-staffed these days? (feel free to direct me to an ITV FAQ…)

The news hour has been axed, there will not be one in GMB.

Well, if they do go ahead with it, I'll be a) impressed and b) counting down the days before they can't be bothered doing it anymore.

We knew that about 3 months ago, it isn't news.

Yes because the announcement of GMB came in January

I would assume all regions will have a GMB clock that they will slap over the handover and their bulletin. There's bound to be at least one that doesn't get the position or font quite right.

The only way I can see it working, if indeed they are actually going to do this, is that they pre-record them days or weeks before having changed into the clothes they will be presenting in the next day. This has the potential to go wrong the moment one of the presenters calls in sick.

No-one (presenter or production) is going to want to be doing "Now the news in X region with Y" fourteen times in a row at 3-4am when they should be concentrating on the content of the actual programme they are there to make.

The other thing, whenever they're recorded, is if there's a window on the set, like Daybreak had, it'll be easy to spot the pre-records because of the different light levels.

It's a lot to get right and a lot to go wrong. I stand by my original comment: ridiculous.

It's simple really, a simple handover! '...but first, the news, weather and travel from your area' No need to complicate things. I don't know about any other region but Central don't even do travel news?

I think it's only London that does travel news.
