I think LIVE is a good idea, it is good to talk about all of the latest news stories and developments around the world, along with the special guests and music etc...

Exactly it'll be brilliant on sundays you would get:

Weekend- Music,Interviews,Entertainment,Live Performances
Sunday Side Up-Interviews,TV News,Entertainment
Sunday Scoop-Interviews,TV News,Cooking, News Headlines,Newspaper Review

And 'live' is capitalised because...? There is no need for Weekend to be live, just like there was no need for (GMTV with) Lorraine to be live on Thursdays and Fridays pre 2010. Neither are news shows, if they want newsin the programme then the presenter records a throw to and a welcome back from the newsreader, and if they do anticipate breaking news then either ITN will cut in with a Special Report or the duty reporter at weekends and ITV Breakfast will provide coverage until 9:25.

'Weekend' is not a news show, so it doesn't need to be live. It's just a chat show with a few features thrown in.

Ah right, I guess the talk of a news bulletin before it threw me off.

In my opinion, 'TV News comes under 'Entertainment' and there is not enough of 'Entertainment' to go round all three shows without A LOT of repetition. Again, there is NO NEED for Weekend to be live unless they were having some sort of Weekend live on the South Bank concert extravaganza...which I highly doubt would happen.

Well either way if weekend wasn't live it would still be a good morning!

Edit: Just realised this is off topic back to GMB!

All I'm saying is, a bit of news content would be good, a good discussion and if there are breaking stories then they can't cover them?

If they want to cover news, they'll cover it generically. For example, they might talk about Crimea but not go into the latest as, from the start, it was not a news show. If you want news on your weekend mornings with a wee performance, you can always watch Andrew Marr on Sunday Wink

I guess where you are coming from, they probably wont cover all of the news but it would be a good idea Smile

Weekend is something really to see out Aled's contract.

Viewers are so out of the habit of watching ITV on weekend mornings I doubt it will find an audience.

You can't be sure about that. The show must have been in the pipeline anyway and it has already been said that some Daybreak staff would be redeployed. I doubt ITV would go to the trouble of creating a show, a set, paying production staff etc. just to see out Aled's contract. I'm sure it would have been cheaper to pay him off, IMO it's worked out for ITV that they could slot Aled into this role for a show that they had already planned.

A few posters here seem sure that it will end after it's first run, but you never know, it could actually be.....successful...and a second series may follow.
