After previous failures you can understand why they are trying to not create expectations.

They probably should have thought about that before poaching Susanna Reid Wink The expectations are already there thanks to that tabloid frenzy.
Though it would be very hard for the ratings to get any worse.

Unfortunately I think that's how they felt about GMTV and Daybreak v1. It wasn't the case, and it still isn't - with half a million viewers, there's still plenty of scope for further declines.

Agree about the expectations already being there. As I've said before, no matter how good the show is, I doubt the tabloids will be interested in anything other than the launch ratings - and I can't see them going any easier on the show because there wasn't much promotion.

From the hints we've had, everything sounds very promising, so I just hope that the lack of marketing doesn't hamper its prospects.

There has only been 1 relaunch, not exactly lots is it?

Well if you think of Daybreak V.1 as a relaunch of ITV Breakfast, as it had been GMTV, then this will be their third, and the two previous Launches/ Re-launches (if you're going to be a pedant) have taken different approaches!

I agree with others, they shouldn't have a new lorraine set, as the current one works well, in my opinion i would change the back lighting to the colours in the titles, to reflect the brand, not some mish mash titles that don't go with the set, and adding a video wall again, as it worked well for the show. So, I'd give it a minor refresh tbh, it still looks fresh 4 years on. For the few that don't know, the September 2012 set was basically the same from v1, but was refreshed, to go with the new db studio i believe.

I think that the fact that they have removed fundamental elements of the set hints that changes will occur, probably with a brand new set, perhaps with some similar ideas.

The set had a similar layout, with the round riser with a curved sofa and large armchair, and the catwalk that rapped it but the set was totally different, to fit in with the new Daybreak set.

Daybreak was a completely different show to GMTV. That is not a relaunch, that is the axing of one show, and the launch of another. The only Daybreak relaunch was in September 2012. Now Daybreak is ending, and GMB beginning, that is not a relaunch. It is the launch of a new show.

I still feel that they are missing a trick with the advertising of the new show, with promos not being aired until next Saturday, it feels like history is repeating itself with under promotion. I'd have thought advertising would have started on Monday through the day, during ad breaks of daybreak and so on..

Is Lorraine currently saw as the final hour of daybreak? or the spin off?

Well it's a relaunch of the ITV Breakfast Franchise isn't it.

No. That's just a company name, it's not a programme or a format. And the company isn't being relaunched.

You're basically arguing that ITV relaunched, because they dropped Pop Idol and launched X-Factor.

Is Lorraine currently *seen* as the final hour of daybreak? or the spin off?

Look at your EPG - its a different programme. Linked, obviously. But it has a different set and graphics etc.

I think they need to put out some adverts during the ITV News, and maybe on next Sunday's late bulletin note "Good Morning Britain, the new ITV breakfast show, will be here with more news at 6am tomorrow".

I've just been looking at the Sky EPG for next Saturday, and it appears that 'Weekend' begins after an ITV News update at 8:25: so it seems that ITN are to provide at least some input during the ITV Breakfast franchise hours.

Perhaps this explains why the branding of graphics is going to be similar.
