I've got a lot of respect for Graham Norton because he knows when not to speak and let the EBU feed do the talking. My view is - during the French sections it's fine, but English sections should not be talked over.

There are points where the BBC have to speak over the host broadcasters, even when they are speaking in English.

This is because the BBC doesn't allow the same voting methods (Eurovision app and SMS voting) that are available in the rest of Europe (and I suspect the BBC is right not to...) The BBC also have to mask some of the host broadcaster graphics for the same reason.

I think Scott was only off tube for Dusseldorf (which ironically was a blessing...

No it wasn't. Scott continually spoke over the hosts during their English segments.

My main point was your assertion that Scott would be "off tube" again. He wasn't last year (nor was he the year before ISTR), he was in the arena for Baku and Malmö, it was only Düsseldorf he commentated "off tube" in London.

I'm not passing comment on the quality of his commentary, but his presences was no doubt a blessing for the BBC.

(In fact I think that in recent years 2011 was the only time that any BBC TV Eurovision commentary has been off tube - and definitely an isolated occasion. Paddy was always on location, as is Graham. Terry was for as long as I can remember too)

Tonight is a very important night, since between 3 or 4 countries are announcing their songs. I doubting that Russia will tonight though.

The BBC always over step the mark in that regard and treat viewers as complete idiots. The message can be got across without being so condescending to viewers.

Mefest was as grand as ever, really don't see SVT forking out for 2015 though. The ABBA tribute was excellent as an 'interval act'

They seem to do an ABBA tribute every year.
