With the flooding getting worse and spreading further across the country, do we envisage a BBC News Special on BBC One over the coming days?

Oh, almost certainly, there's no better way to soak up (no pun intended) one hour's worth of prime time viewing
(by simulcasting on two channels), with Jon Kay and Robert Hall stood in water we can't see, because it's pitch dark, throwing to each other, and interviewing contributors who are somewhere else (normally a warm dry studio), cobbling together footage we've all seen before, telling us nothing we don't already know.

The BBC weather sign above the weather area on the trundle cam seems to have been pulled down leaving a bit of a mess behind - you'd think they would be hiding it on-camera until whatever they're up to is finished:

I can't believe that made it to air. What were they thinking? Looks terrible.

The Idea's alright if it will change with the Weather Bubble but they could at least have done it in Black Font so you can actually distinguish it.

I'm not sure I like separating 'BBC' from 'Weather' - 'BBC Weather' is fairly frequently referenced (particularly in the digital age where it really does serve as a standalone service), it feels like incorrect branding. And as mentioned the contrast, at least on that day, isn't great.

They could always just right align the BBC logo.

Would this in each screen not work?

No it would look amateurish.

Then perhaps the background in each with the logo in only the centre screen?

If the screens are mainly to be used for another show, then couldn't they just try and replicate the old sign that was there, white on red with the background roughly matched to the colour of the wall.

Might be less distracting on a shot that's only on screen for 3-5 seconds at most.

What is it distracting you from? That whole shot is for aesthetic reasons only.

I agree it doesn't look great, and JK08's idea isn't that terrible. Failing that they could just get rid of the logo and just have the 'weather scene' or even just some BBC News graphics.

Personally, I think there's a lot of clutter for you to take in on a short aesthetic shot. Whilst this shot is happening, the newsreader and weather presenter are conversing so I would've thought that the eye should really be drawn to the person speaking (ie. Stav above), and who is about to start presenting. Now, there are 4 bright screens and a lit up podium thing to look at, then the shot is over before you can really take it in.

A personal preference would be to just keep it plain and simple on the wall.

Similarly, I like the relatively new intro to the Ten for example as the shot focuses more on Huw standing up rather than centring on the desk with an empty chair at it, like it used to.
