As a result of BBC 2 Scotland opting out the schedule, Newsnight is currently being shown on the Red Button.

Has this sort of thing happened before, where an opt out by one of the nations has led to the network programme being shown on the red button?

Final Score is / used to be on the red button and generally not on in Scotland.

The only thing I've known them do it for is sport - on the odd occassion when BBC1/2 and 301 were showing the same thing it was because BBC1/2 in one of the nations weren't carrying it.

Surely in this case though there were other points in the schedule they could have opted out to show this.

I know it doesn't matter, I know it does its job displaying the information you need to know but nonetheless I find it annoying no-one has bothered to take the 5 minutes required to make these things look presentable after about 5 years of use.

Why does 'live' and 'snooker' have to be in capitals?!

it's a bit awkward because it doesn't make it obvious that it's a problem at the venue affecting the tournament rather than just the TV coverage

Why does 'live' and 'snooker' have to be in capitals?!

Because the name of the programme was 'Live Snooker'

I would guess not, unless you also presume that "Due to a power cut" was selected from a drop down list.
