He had a bit of time off between the show and his retirement from NWT, so it couldn't have been more than 18 months.

Worth mentioning that Clare Nasir is presenting the weather on tonight's bulletin at 10:25. Any chance of someone capturing it? I've missed Clare from the GMTV days, so it will be great to see her on screen.

What's this about Dianne taking a break until the end of the year? It came up on the thread preview until I just posted.

Have we time travelled six months into the past in the North West? Tony Livesey is presenting NWT with Annabel tonight. No mention on why he's there so far, I can only guess the weather has prevented Roger from getting to MediaCity.

It's probably just Roger having a day off. And how much better it was. I just can't warm to Roger at all, even after the time he's been with the programme. Just cold and boring to watch.

Tony is sincere and much more personable.

North West Tonight are doing a #bbcnwtlive behind-the-scenes feature on Thursday's programme.

They're billing this as a TV first:

Quote:
The NWT gallery. On Thursday, we're going behind-the-scenes with #bbcnwtlive. Gallery will be streamed live at 1830 - so you can watch NWT on your TV and the production team on the computer! There'll be people in the seats - and several of our staff are taking to Twitter for the first time! More later ..

Interesting. Also glad to see they've stuck with a real Christmas tree this year rather than those awful virtual ones of last.

Has Dianne left NWT? We seem to have been stuck with Eno forever!

Last I heard was that she was on a 6 month leave from the show to focus on something else, but I could be completely wrong.

Yes, you're right. She's the presenter of Inside Out, but considering all she does is record the links and do one report on that, I don't believe 6 months off is in any way justifiable for the 'working on other projects' line that they gave. There's obviously something more to this.

Tony Livesey didn't do the same when he was presenter, alongside his commitments at the time as sports presenter, and presenter on 5 Live.

Why was she off some years who when she took a similar length of leave? I can't ever remember. On that occasion she was substituted by Kaye Forster.

This was from Gordon's newsletter at the time of the last leave in 2011:

Quote:
Good news for all Dianne Oxberry fans. As you know she has been taking an extended holiday and I have reassured you all before that she hasn’t been ill or untoward in any way. She just took time off to enjoy herself. Every day we get emails or tweets asking after her and wanting to know when she is returning. Well readers, you are now going to be the first to know. She returns to the programme on August 1st and she’ll get a wonderful welcome back from all of us and her legion of fans too.
She is a genuinely brilliant presenter.

Does anyone know what Nina Warhurst is off to do, and whether she's staying with the BBC? She's leaving her role as health reporter on the programme.

Lots of Twitter activity, but strangely nobody is letting on about her new job.

She was a really good asset to the programme. Not a very good presenter, but a very versatile reporter.
