We can already see some clips of interviews from World online and obviously the reports. I think it is more of this that we can expect to see, not great chunks of programming suddenly simulcast.
I'm pretty sure he is talking about showing more of World's reports and not their actual programmes. This coincides with Newsnight dropping their second Foreign reporter in favour of using more of BBC World's reports. Yalda Hakim's reports have popped up regularly on Newsnight in the last few months.

People also seem to be forgetting the fact that there was always a half-hour BBC World news bulletin on News 24 at 9.30 am every day for years and years. They used to cross over to the duty World newsreader in N9 for it. So it's not like there has never been an appetite for international news.
Personally I think in this digital age where everyone has access to both BBC One and BBC News that it's completely redundant to simulcast Breakfast on both. Simulcasting is a way of saving money - this could equally be achieved by simulcasting BBC World News for 3 hours as an alternative to Breakfast. I can't understand why anyone would argue that increased choice is a bad thing for viewers?

Nobody is saying that. The fact is that nobody outside this forum actually wants it and it will just cause confusion to non anoraks who will turn to the NC expecting national news.
Given that they dropped it, I would say there certainly wasn't any appetite by the viewers. A bit like Sky World News with Jamie Rubin which once achieved a zero rating at 8pm!

Tosh! Do you really think viewers are so stupid that they can't work out that BBC Breakfast is light news, discussions and entertainment and that BBC News would contain serious and mostly world news? Even a chimp could probably discern a difference between the two.

So why did they launch GMT which continues to air as BBC World News on BBC2? Why did they launch the Newsday simulcast? Why was BBC4 News/World News Today created? How come CNN, Al Jazeera and Fox News have not been pulled off British platforms? There must be at least some interest out there, however small.

Rubin made paint drying more interesting. The format stunk more than Dulux.
Personally I'd rather watch world news instead of the increasingly frustrating Breakfast. It's only saving grace is that it's not Daybreak.

I have seen complaints from people tuning into the News Channel over night that they're not covering some big domestic story. ' Why are they talking about Africa when there's floods in Newcastle' etc.
You can imagine how much worse it would be in the morning.

Then surely they could either cut to Breakfast ("welcome to viewers who are joining us from BBC News") or have a Breaking News strap directing them to BBC One if they want to know more about the story.
I recall during the tower graphics era, one time during Click the huge 'BREAKING NEWS' banner of the time appeared and lower thirds remained on screen with updated information until the programme ended, without interrupting the middle of the programme and cutting it short.

Not just big occasional stories, I'm meaning every day domestic news.
People expect to turn on BBC News and get the normal mix of news, they just about get away with it overnight as no-one's watching
