It's a rare thing. When it launched they appointed correspondents for Herts, Essex, 'west London' and 'south London' and the latter patch covered everything from the South Bank to Guildford!

Hertfordshire has always been better covered, not only does it still have a dedicated correspondent but there's been the legacy of being based in Elstree many years ago.

BBC London appear to have suddenly remembered they serve Surrey and NE Hants with two stories. One about the Surrey elected police commissioner and a story from Fleet pooled from South Today.

Well, I assume one was the story regarding Fleet's football team, using the 'word' Spurs, and legal
action being served upon them by Tottenham Hotspur ? In which case a nice bit of cheap copy to fill
three mins of air on London and South, because it has relevance to both regions ?

Indeed, although it's likely viewers in Fleet will either receive ST from Hannington, BBC London from CP or both.

Yes, I know the town well, roof top aerials do indicate a 50/50 split

According to Twitter, they attempted to come on at 7.58 but had sound problems, so quickly went back to SET.

Sara Thornton, the weather presenter who is also presenting weather on Look East and SET was on at 8.28am with the bulletin which may suspect a staffing issue at BH this morning.

Curious fault. London gallery had network faded up perhaps?

Sara Thornton has tweeted to the effect that she used to be a newsreader before getting into weather and was filling in for somebody who was off sick, presumably at short notice.

Sara presented some bulletins on ITV Anglia around 10-11 years ago before moving to weather. I could be wrong, but I think Friday was her first news bulletin since joining the Beeb.

Another fault on BBC London this evening as the gallery fades up the camera on Peter Cockroft during the final package.
