Ar weekend editions of Today *GMA only 1 hour long? I know they start at 08.00.

Also, what about the weekend ratings, does GMA win there too? Do they even care for their weekend morning show ratings?

Good Morning America Wins Saturdays for the First Time Ever

Btw GMA doesn't use the Times square studio at the weekend to save the money. They use the ABC World news studio.

GMA is one hour long on Saturday and Sunday. They don't necessarily start at 8 though, it varies depending on which station it airs on. In some out west, it may air as early at 5.

Today is two hours on Saturday and one hour on Sunday, while CBS This Morning on Saturday is also two hours (the popular CBS Sunday Morning show isn't an extension of the weekday/Saturday brand, but airs for 90 minutes).

The three major networks (as well as FOX) all program an hour long Sunday morning show too (NBC's Meet the Press, CBS' Face the Nation, FOX News Sunday and ABC's This Week).

Not only that, the local stations air their own morning news before and after the national shows. (e.g: WCBS-TV in New York, runs CBS 2 News Saturday twice from 6-7AM and 9-10AM in between CBS This Morning Saturday ) The networks (save for Fox) also offer overnight newscasts on weekdays that run before the local morning news which start at 4:30AM or 5AM. THe national evening newscasts may also air earlier or even preempted in case of a sporting event, but offer updates throughout the event (like CBS)

Today went to rejoin after an adbreak, with the music playing and camera moving, only for the crew to be surrounding the table, fading to black and ads.

So Katie Couric's leaving ABC News (and most likely her ABC syndicated show) for... Yahoo. Sorry, make that Yahoo!.

deadline.com/2013/11/yahoo-announces-deal-with-katie-couric

Quote:
The Web giant announced this morning the Couric will serve as global anchor beginning in 2014, working with “a growing team of global correspondents who will report on live world events, anchor groundbreaking interviews with major newsmakers and thought leaders, and much more.”

Quote:
Couric and Yahoo executives are still in the early stages of developing ideas for what the scope of her presence will be, with town hall meetings among a number of interactive possibilities.

Not a partnership you would have imagined back when she left CBS News, though Yahoo(!) have an online content deal with ABC News (so she's not necessarily cutting ties with ABC completely) and she's already got some kind of online only show with Yahoo.

For now, yes, but it's unlikely to make it past this season, and if it does (as there's no obvious replacement lined up yet) it would only be until 2015 at the latest.

Also worth noting her ABC syndicated show is unrelated to her ABC News contract, which is the one that actually had a further year to go.

Martin Bashir (MSNBC 4pm host - previously an anchor of ABC's Nightline and before that the producer of some controversial documentaries about Diana, Princess of Wales) got embroiled in somewhat of a controversy a few weeks ago, making some rather distasteful comments about Sarah Palin. After some 'time away' and calls for him to be sacked, TVNewser is now reporting that he has resigned.

Alec Baldwin, host of Up Late, has also been sacked. The show, that lasted about 4 episodes, has been cancelled.

Also, Sam Champion, Good Morning America's weekday forecaster is leaving for The Weather Channel. Champion had been with ABC for 25+ years, starting at New York station WABC. His replacement is Ginger Zee, formerly of WMAQ Chicago who was brought in to do the weekend forecast:
Here is his sign-off from GMA:
