Who covers the Isle Of Man - is it still Granada?

I hope so as it is good to see stories form there on Granada Reports.

Just wondered if anybody knows about this Smile

Granada still cover the Isle of Man.

Brilliant - as said previously it is good seeing about The Isle Of Man on Granada Reports.

Lookaround has always done well, even with ITV mucking it about. But there's something about Pam Royal that grates with me, I don't know exactly what it is but at times I just find her overly dull...

Pam Royle is a fabulous presenter. Ian Payne is decent enough too, but never convinced together they suit each other (and that's even after 4 or 5 years together).

Pam and Border stalwart Tim Backshall for me is the best combination actually. Ian Payne worked best when Philippa Tomson was there and she filled in, they had good banter at the end of the show etc!

Odd that the opening titles should focus on a building with a Scottish flag in such a wildly diverse area, and that the lead item should be about the referendum (a Scottish national story, not local, without clear relevance to the English half of the border).

Politically it would make a lot of sense for ITV to try to prove its Scottish credentials right now, given STV is, at least to politicians, putting it to shame. I suspect viewers in Carlisle are going to see a lot about independence on their local news in the coming year...

Mind you, if the region didn't have that Scottish half then I suppose Border have just been lumped in with Tyne Tees in perpetuity.

The 'building' is Kelso Town hall and in the titles it's just reflecting a Scottish town, nothing as sinister. The rest of the titles have fishing, fields, etc etc and the end shot of the titles is Carlisle (as well as the backdrop).

Pretty much all of the indy coverage this week on Lookaround has had info about relevance to people 'over the border' in Northern England.

I don't even watch it when Tim Backshall is on, cold, stilted, monotone & boring are some of his nicer qualities. No wonder Pam & Ian got the job over their border colleagues as I am flabbergasted as to how Tim & Helen ever got to head up the border programme.
Phillipa & Jonathan were always my favs behind the ledgend that is Mike Neville. As TT North viewer Phillipa & Jonathan had excellent chemistry, good presenters and very warm. Would love to see the two of the reunited at Tyne Tees.. Would never happen though I understand Jonathan is in Austrialia theses days and Phillipa Tomson is settling at Sky.

Oh Tim is a very warm presenter always has time for the viewers of the Border region whenever he presents or reports!

I'm not intending to suggest there was anything sinister and I defer to those who are local who will know better than me whether there's a good geographical spread in the intro.

All I would say is that in an area which has to serve part of Scotland, part of England and had previously served the Isle of Man, I'd be leaving national flags out of the scenario. It's a tiny point though, not a major issue.

Think Lookaround are running out of content. They had a 3 minute interview and a VT about Cumbria County Council transferring a number of buildings to outside companies. A bit much for a fairly minor story IMO.

I'm worried that already Border tonight (although shouldn't as the new offering is for full 30 mins for South Scotland & Cumbria) seemed to have one of these 'aggregated' stories as it was some report about titanic which came from Swindon and Belfast... Confused

Try watching an average edition of ITV News London, where interviews pad out an average edition. Like Border, the London region will have to maintain a 30 minute edition with content from the area regardless of the lack of resources after recent redundancies when the new franchise starts.

Shouldn't lookaround have all the major Scottish political stories going on? what happened to that deal with STV to share news stories? Or did that go out the window with the STV-ITV dispute 4 years ago?
