Yesterday seemed to be more a case of them waiting for anything remotely close so they could show it off as a bit of a novelty (pretty sure it happened in the Swansea v Man Utd game too), but the Chelsea one was probably the first time it was used when there was a slight question about whether the ball crossed the line - even the ref checked his watch to make sure it wasn't flashing "GOAL".
Note from a presentation point of view the NBC Sports Network, which is barely a year old itself, is morphing into NBCSN gradually over the next few months.
I assume as the UK broadcast BT is effectively the host broadcaster for the 12.45pm games. Will international viewers therefore get the picture in picture annoyance, or is that something BT add in for their own feed.
Quick question, check BFI, Central keeps coming up as World cup producer from 94, 98, so did there in fact deal with all the football matches?
Yes, Central at least up till the time they lost the Premier League highlights contract in the 00s.
That some good for one ITV station.
Well, they didn't cover every single football match on ITV in terms of filming it but from 1993 Central did take over the commitment of co-ordinating ITV's football coverage, so they would hire the presenters and pundits and create the brands and so on. They took over from LWT who had been in that role since they started in the sixties (before that ABC were in charge). But all the other stations were involved as well in covering the matches that took place in their area, and their own regional coverage and so on. Don't know when Central stopped doing it, eventually they all merged into one network sports department. And the studio was always at LWT even when Central were in charge.
It's the same as how Central were responsible for co-ordinating Children's ITV (apart from the two years it was an idependent production), doing the links and creating all the branding, but all the individual components came from across the network. Other companies had responsibilities on other sports, Thames were responsible for ITV's coverage of the 1988 Olympics and 1991 World Cup, Meridian and Anglia were the consortium that did the F1 (MACh 1, of course, with Chrysalis), and so on.

Sports programmes on ITV continued to be credited as "Carlton/ISN" productions up until 2004. It reverted to "Central/ISN' after the merger but changed to Granada on 1st November 2004, which I think was basically the end of ISN as a name.
The BBC has a lot of sport this weekend which is not being shown on any channel or the red button.
So only available via the website/connected TV etc...
Final Score between 2.30 and 4 on Saturday (it's been given an extra 30 minutes on BBC2 as England in the Hockey final has pushed it off the red button);
F1 Forum on Sunday;
Hockey Euros Men's Semi - England v Belgium tonight, plus the B finals over the weekend;
MotoGP practice (although this is normal);
European Showjumping Championships - both Saturday and Sunday;
Triathlon from Stockholm on Saturday (although there is BBC2 coverage on Sunday).
It's a busy weekend with live F1 and MotoGP races, plus the Reading and Leeds festivals on the Red Button.

It's an annoyance for BT sport viewers rest of world take img's feed of the premier league.

But the footage IMG take is still from BT Sport (Sunset+Vine).

P*ers "Morgan" Moron (eugh) has just tweeted that Michael Owen is commentating on NBC Sports' presentation of Fulham v Arsenal, which sorta confirms that BT Sport's presentation is being used as the international feed.
Whether this means their graphics are used or not remains to be seen. I'm keeping my eye on a stream (cough) of NBCSN, they are using their own gfx package as opposed to the generic PL package.
EDIT: A "touches" graphic just used on BT wasn't displayed on the NBC feed, which is rather embarrassing as the commentator referred to it.
EDIT 2: NBCSN using generic PL branding replay flashes, but not showing PIP.
