Off topic I know but, I understand that the Southern TV corporate archive (for the want of a much better word) ended up at Bournemouth (University?). They did advertise a long time ago, for applicants to sift through the material and catalogue it in such way that it would be accessible and searchable. They weren't looking for members of the public to simply throw their hats into the ring, I think it was advertised as being suitable for someone looking to undertake the work as part of a higher education package (in research I think) maybe a Phd or some such.

Someone was obviously appointed since if you search on the www you can see that someone appears to have made a stab at it. Apart from a few copies of old photos etc nothing much seems to have come of it. Very unsatisfactory I think.

I did email the pertinent department asking what the situation was, but received no reply whatsoever.

Given that the archive will most likely contain all of Southern's internal memos etc from day one, it would be nice to see the paperwork concerning the beginning of the station etc in the 1950's, you never know there might even be some memos outlining what was going on from the managements perspective on the two occasions I was involved in a 'sit in' !!

I believe the same uni deals with iba archive, members of the public are not able to review any of it....

To be fair it would be the arygll group, Morrison would highlight that would hold details for safeway.

I see your point. i forgot about the share buyback in 199, becoming Safeway plc, mind you it was never the same once Presto went. Again History of presto is choppy at best, but its getting better and the information is at least out there.

With Central, Certain Details are still missing:

* Television Sales and Marketing Services Ltd (TSMS)
* Central issued public shares to be listed on the London Stock Exchange
* Other details about other International cooperation with other program makers
* Im sure Im missing something.

Over the first three years of Zodiac's existence, Central Independent spent $26 million on the company. By 1992, the company had fifteen employees, including five in New York City, where its marketing department was headquartered. Its animation production was done in South Korea. Although one report claimed that the company would begin production on an outer space-based teen soap opera,[3

That clears that up.

It's interesting how a company once so mighty and important can be reduced to just 2 floors of office space in a small portion of a building once wholly occupied by them! And that's nothing to do with technology changing form!

It's also interesting how quick it all happened with Central. Around the turn of the century they were still quite a substantial network producer, they had the networked CITV stuff, own transmission operation, 3 local news splits...and just a few years later most of that was gone. Other regions have either had a slower decline or never did that much in the first place. I think it must have been a casualty of the Carlton side of the merger as Leeds and Manchester did much better out of it.
