For really intelligent news, the PBS Newshour is always a good source. But CNN isn't bad generally, certainly nowhere near as bad as Fox News Channel.

Announced this afternoon that CNN is bringing back Crossfire in the Autumn,
Quote:
CNN today announced that Crossfire, previously the longest running political debate program on television, will return to the network this fall. Hosting from the right will be Newt Gingrich and S.E. Cupp, with Stephanie Cutter and Van Jones hosting from the left.

“Few programs in the history of CNN have had the kind of impact on political discourse that Crossfire did – it was a terrific program then, and we believe the time is right to bring it back and do it again,” said Jeff Zucker, President of CNN Worldwide. “We look forward to the opportunity to host passionate conversation from all sides of the political spectrum. Crossfire will be the forum where America holds its great debates.”

as if CNN didn't give Jon Stewart enough material to let them have it. I'd love to see his reaction when he returns from holiday.

Zimmerman effect working wonders for CNN U.S, despite the questionable merits of a lot of their coverage. They were number 1 in the demo on Monday night and now this,
Quote:
Wow. Yesterday the number one cable news morning show in the demo was... CNN's "New Day." "Fox & Friends" #1 in total viewers.

Too bad the whole channel's turned into a version of E! News with the arrival of Jeff Zucker overnight. I used to have CNN Domestic on a lot, mostly as background noise, but also because they occasionally would have some decent reporting, but I'm at the point now where I can't really take CNN Domestic or CNN.com as a serious source for news.

Thank God my cable company carries BBC World fulltime now, as I otherwise wouldn't have a decent 24-hour news network to watch on my TV.

CNN London is getting a new set, the works started this weekend and I guess will take a month or so. Because of this, Nina Dos Santos went to Atlanta from where she'll present QMB these 2 weeks. Amanda Davies is also there doing World Sport. WBT is presented from a flash studio in London while Amanpour (who already moved back to London) is doing her show from various locations in London (she's at the London Eye tonight).

QMB opening, looks really good in new Atlanta set

Silly mare just introduced a guest who was joining her 'live' whilst her London backdrop is very bright and early evening like for 10:30pm.

That was probably live on the initial airing at 8pm, when it would have still been quite light outside.

CNNI has updated it's graphics today so now they resemble domestic, with some differences. There's no program box and the logo box is still the same. Also, yellow as breaking news color is gone, after 7 years. Sad

Here are 2 caps

Andrew Stevens and Patricia Woo are in Atlanta this week doing CNN Newsroom HK. Shocked Not sure if HK set is also getting a makeover, it's still quite new and had several mini revamps last 2 years.

Meanwhile, most London shows have moved to other hubs while their set is made. As I mentioned Nina and Amanda are in Atlanta and last week Becky did CTW from Abu Dhabi.
