With the Open at the moment its interesting to see the differences between the world feed on Setanta and the BBC's own coverage. When the BBC dipped out at the top of the hour for the leaderboard and then, well, a sequence I'm not sure what the point of was, Setanta kept showing coverage obviously. It actually then took the BBC several minutes to "catch-up" with Setanta.

Of course it works both ways, Setanta have ad breaks and the BBC doesn't!

Young Mr Alliss was getting awfully reflective and reminiscent in his closing commentary at the Open a few moments ago . . . more so than usual. I almost thought he was meandering his way to a farewell.

Such a shame that we now only hear his voice on live coverage for a few days each year.

Has anyone been watching Sky's ashes coverage the music on its main titles is very disappointing, the graphics are ok but the scoreboard is huge it takes up a lot of the bottom part of the screen I prefer channel 5's commentary is their any channel which is showing sunset and vines coverage instead?

Something which hasn't been mentioned on here yet, is that Premier Sports Extra is no longer on the Sky Digital EPG.

This is probably been posted already, but a reminder that the 'director's cut' of the London 2012 opening ceremony is on tomorrow on BBC Three from 7pm.

For those of you in East London, there's a chance to watch it on a big screen on Tuesday 13th. Danny Boyle will be there for a later Q&A session, so I suppose there's a chance he'll turn up for this too. Details here: http://www.shufflefestival.com/programme.html

At the Sky Results presentation last week, the chief exec confirmed that UEFA have brought forward the bidding process for the next set of Champions League rights. We should know by early December.

Indeed, and BT takes over ESPN fully on August 1, I don't have Virgin anymore but whats happening to ESPN America? Also any news on BT appearing on VM? End of an era to an extent on VM as Setanta and ESPN have always been free if you've taken the XL pack, I know for a fact that won't be carrying on.

I think the current ESPN channel, and ESPN America are going to be merged into one channel, ESPN. Looking at the BT publicity, it makes no mention of ESPN America, but they have mentioned american sports previously, so ESPN will carry american sport as well as UK sport, and once the rights transfer, ESPN will carry American sport only, or that's what I think.
