Also noteworthy that, unusually, the BBC are using the FIFA host broadcaster opening titles, with no BBC Sport branding whatsoever . . . including the endboard. And therefore no reference to the 'Match of the Day' titling at all.

The version RTÉ are using has the sponsors stings incorporated into it a la the Champions League titles.

The music is just an arrangement of the normal FIFA theme music - in fact I think the titles are basically along the same lines as last time.

The tennis is being taken off the red button for Antiques Roadshow/Confederations Cup.

For Antiques Roadshow play-a-long. About 7:50, Andrew Castle told them all they could play on but would have to wrap up for the TV (most of the participants didn't even realise it was on TV anyway) so they played a deciding point then.

I missed this. So can somebody confirm that they actually stopped a charity tennis match early so that the Red Button could show an Antiques Roadshow play-along game?

I caught the last hour of the Queens coverage on BBC1. Was there no studio presenter either today or generally?

It seemed odd having the commentators anchoring the coverage when it was on BBC1, seemed a bit 'Red Button'

No,

The charity game between Murray / Henman and Lendl / Berdych completed as planned.

An additional knockabout between Murray / Henman and six celebs, more or less after it had degenerated into farce was curtailed, it really wasn't getting anywhere so the audience at Queens weren't deprived of much.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

I was watching online and wondered what the rush was to finish. So to answer your question it seems so. They changed the rules and even the score towards the end so that they could finish by 8PM. It was a bit of a mess but as it was supposed to be a fun match I don't think it mattered too much.

A far better end to the tournament than last year, that's for sure.

It wasn't so much a charity tennis match as a bunch of people messing around on a tennis court and as has been said, they probably went on messing around for a bit once the coverage had been wound up.

Seems an odd decisions though, to take it off for a play-along version of a recorded programme. I noticed that Fiona Bruce mentioned the play-along element on the programme although presumably there is also a version of the programme available where she doesn't mention it.

An aside ....

Heard on the commentary in Brazil last night, no friendly World Cup Kickoff times for Europe next year, Seems that the key Evening Fixtures will KO at 2100 Brazil Time - 0100 UK.

Of course the fact that the tournament is being played across two time zones complicates matters even further . . .

Oh excellent, like the 2002 World Cup except the opposite!

EDIT: According to Wikipedia only one kickoff time at 2100 Brazil time for the World Cup next year! Looks like in actual fact it will be perfect for the UK ensuring a primetime audience.
