ITV4 RG coverage spot. seems that in Rain Breaks they are restricted, presumably by rights agreement to reshowing already shown material, not previously un-transmitted coverage from other courts.

It's a good job the Brazilians haven't been entrusted in hosting any of the worlds biggest sporting events over the next few years, isn't it?

I'm sure Greece could always step in. Seems to be a paperwork issue (or that's the defense anyway), but you would think if the Maracana couldn't host it they'd be able to find an alternative location, although Rio's second biggest stadium has also been closed recently due to needing repairs to the roof.

ESPN took the same feed as ITV, Setanta went on the opposite side, I would imagine so that they could put their own avderts on the hoardings opposite, as noted however, this was actually done virtually. Those ads weren't visible to anyone in Wembley. Clever piece of kit.

Hi i cant see the Setanta video but theres definitely one international fa.com branded feed this was encrypted unfortunately on 10e but it would have been what espn brazil, al jazerra sport would have taken, setanta ireland would have taken either that feed or the unilateral clean and overlayed a good imitation of the official graphics?

Last time Channel 4 broadcast The Derby, they won a BAFTA for it.

Don't think there's much chance of that this year...

Nothing in particular, it was just very poor overall. For a start Nick Luck seemed to be talking constantly, but he seemed to be reading from a flip chart with two words on each page. Took near enough a minute to introduce the commentator for the race, almost repeating the Grand National where they missed the start (although at least this time they weren't on a helicopter shot). No replay of the race for 20 minutes after the finish. Absolutely no analysis of the race, despite the hot favourite being thrashed by the entire field. Oh, and the whole thing just felt slow and drawn out, rather than an exciting spectacle, certainly not befitting one of the most important races on the planet. I've seen more exciting and dynamic coverage of the 2.40 from Lingfield in the middle of January with six runners, three of which are only there because they need the exercise.

They're not doing very well are they IMG? How long till IMG start replacing their own producers with those from Highflyer?

The John McCririck case goes to court this week. Personally I don't really think he has a case and a broadcaster should have the right to replace staff (and even if it's a huge mistake, producers) when contracts come to an end - but it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Do we know what happened to any legal challenge Highflyer were planning? Again legally as long as it was a fair tender process in the business world today a customer has the right to switch from one supplier to another, but from a TV point of view it was a huge mistake dropping Highflyer when C4 won the rights to everything. C4 Racing had developed it's own style so brilliantly over the years and was leagues ahead of the BBC team, and as such deservedly won the exclusive rights - but to then replace that team and go down a route which removed what was good about C4 Racing and replace much of it with what wasn't so great about BBC racing has unsurprisingly seen ratings suffer.

ITV (and apparently other broadcasters) having feed issues from the Maracana tonight.

..... and the pitchside virtual advertising seems to have fallen over too since half time.

A very small snippet of information (not confirmed) from Charles Sale in the Mail the other day:

Quote:
ITV decided on Tuesday to present their World Cup coverage from a London studio for cost reasons. The BBC, who built a studio on the top of a Cape Town hospital last time, are expected to have their base in between Rio’s Copacabana and Ipanema beaches.
