It may just be me not noticing it in the past, but I see from Darren Bett's weather forecast just now on the News Channel he had a headset microphone rather than one clipped to his jacket.

They've been using them since the move to Broadcasting House.

Of course, they only use them when they're in front of the plasma on the Weather balcony.
They do still have a Green screen weather studio in that House somewhere which BBC World use.
The green screens can also be blue screens at the flick of a button. They are also used for BBC One (incl Breakfast and the post Newsnight BBC Two) weather forecasts and selected news channel forecasts.
I usually really like the way the Schaff delivers the weather, but since the move to BH and the use of big screens over CSO he seems to spend more and more time facing the screen than he does the camera.
The weather presenters still aren't getting used to these new mics.
Here's Tomasz tonight on the news channel.
Why does it always happen to Tomasz? Yes, other forecasters have had issues over the years, including ones like this, but it's gotten to the point where you hold your breath expecting something to go wrong every time he appears on screen.

Funny you say that, because I don't. I find him often quite stilted in his delivery, usually with ums and ahs like he's just been put on the spot and doesn't know what he's going to say next. He'll often not really concude very well, then just go "bye!".
That might be unfair, could be up against time pressures when I've seen him lately, but I don't think he's as polished as some others. My preferences are Alex Deakin with John Hammond closely following. Oh Chris Fawkes also seems to be a good guy with a bit of personality.
