The fact that they've turned the desk just a bit looks quite odd and untidy, IMO.
It does, not sure if I like it to be honest. Too dark and dreary as well

I didn't mind the plasma but i think they need to have the straps off the plasma because she stood right in front of them.
Jo Blythe tweeted that they have "a few options" with regards to weather pres from the new studio. Hopefully it'll mean using a CSO tomorrow night as that screen is too small.

I still don't think the lighting was quite right tonight - if you watch the interview Lucy did with Adam Crozier online, it shows a clip of Lucy & Tony in rehearsal which looks a hell of a lot better lit. At the moment it just looks like there is no key light.
I'm no fan of the background... whether the buildings outside are lit or not. It just seems a rather bland and unrecognisable backdrop especially compared to Londons which does make you think 'London'. I kept thinking the building on the left looked as if a sign had been taken down and left a discolored patch.
Also, does anyone else think it looks odd that they are trying to uniform the look of regional and national news but national is so clearly CSO which as much as I hate their fake gallery background, is fine but why not use it for both or neither.

Bland and unrecogniseable though is probably quite good for a regional like Granada. It isn't like the old backdrop had anything really recogniseable in it either, and to be honest apart from a view down Coronation Street I'm not sure what would constitute a recogniseable backdrop from Manchester anyway.

Did anyone notice that they got Tony and Lucy's names the wrong way round at the beginning?

Name mistakes again. After BBC WN doing it at 5am, here comes Granada. They have to fix it ASAP, although we know them well.

Ah well, that's Manchester's curse. It's a shame they don't broadcast from Liverpool - that has a very recognisable backdrop.
