What studio is The Wales Report filmed in (it is a London filmed show isn't it?). Thanks

The studio is probably in Cardiff.

Quote:
Edwards, who will continue presenting the BBC TV network news at 10pm, will introduce the show and interview decision makers in the studio at Cardiff.

I'm a tad confused, why does the 10 come from N6 rather than TC7, or indeed, why dows the 6 come from TC7 and not N6?

Because Newsnight were in TC7 until they moved to NBH so it wasn't available for the Ten. The Six uses TC7 because it gives them time to rehearse and set things up. This isn't the case with the Ten so the News Channel goes to N8 to free up N6 for the Ten to rehearse.

Theoretically the Ten could go to TC7 now but there wouldn't be technical crew on duty to do it, and in any case they want to close TC7 as soon as possible.

The Ten did use TC7 for a while although it did cause a logjam with Newsnight chomping at the proverbial bit to get in.
N8 apparently lacks quality vision control so was not liked by the national production teams.
TC7 is hired until the end of March. The problem is that staff is short having to run two operations at BH and TVC.

Lacks Vision Quality Control?

It was good enough for BBC TV overnights!

BBC overnights are very slow. The equipment in N8 is not designed for quick camera corrections or racking that is necessary for any fast or busy segment s with 2 presenters, dtls, guests etc etc.
The original post said "lacks quality vision control", which is slightly different to the quote above IYSWIM

Presuming the piece I've highlighted with yellow boxes is the new News Channel Studio
Are those panels the new type of screens that didn't work in Studio C?

Yes, that's Studio E. I believe they changed the Smartglass to plasmas in Studio E after they realised images didn't display clearly enough on screen in the World News studio.

The purpose of those 'smart glasses' on BBC WN studios before was to do some camera shots behind the glass? that's just waste of time...

I still wish BBC NC is the one that has the London skyline as a background, instead of WN... Laughing

Think the Smart Glass was to be used as a projection screen that could be made transparent - as FiveNews did in one of their Sky produced eras. It's not a great solution though - as the projection is always compromised.

Lacks Vision Quality Control?

It was good enough for BBC TV overnights!

That was always a matter of debate... (And the audience numbers for overnights aren't quite the same as for the Six and the Ten...)

No specific ratings due to the vast reach of the channel, around 300 million homes.

There is some specific data for different parts of the output rebroadcast on domestic outlets. For instance on PBS in the states BBC world news has about a million watching on their local station. Focus on Africa has around 60 million watching domestically in Africa
