The weather graphics are worse than before! but all in all a great job by all involved
They should really replace the regional studios now tho!
And I know itv news and itv news London share a studio but do they share the same bit if you know what I mean, the old studio had two halves one for London and one for national. Is this still the case now?
Thanks.
The regional weather sting would look better if it had the 'itv WEATHER' logo (as seen bottom left during the forecasts) instead of 'itv NEWS Weather'. Messy.
I'd have preferred the soap style credits instead of text over the screen.
That said, the title sequence feels very 'this is your news', if you get me. I've never been a great fan of generic images and it would be better if the images changed depending on the day's stories.
Not only are the images in the title sequence far too generic and clichéd, but the main problem for me is that (barring Big Ben and Lady Justice) they look like they're made in America. And they're cheap and nasty.
The first moment I saw them, I thought "Getty Images Royalty Free".
And I was right (for at least one of the images, and I bet they're all off Getty if you search hard enough)...
Also, if you freeze this on 0:50, and look at the style of the road signs in the top right and bottom left, it's clearly not a piece of footage filmed in Britain.
And the girl in the classroom is obviously not British footage either, or she'd be wearing a uniform.
I'll reserve full judgement until I've seen the evening bulletins, but first impressions are that this rebrand has been for the better. The studio looks gorgeous, the music is a nice modern take on the original NAT theme. That over-the-shoulder graphic is so reminiscent of the 1992-era Early Evening News - brilliant touch! Hope we see more of that for News at Ten.
Do you think the images in the titles after the Big Ben shot could be replaced by images of the news stories?
Also - the loss of the ITN endcap is quite a bold move, and it's sad to see it go! The ITV News endcap (which I assume they are using across the regions too?) looks too simplistic though, it might be better to just utilise the final frames of the opening titles.

Not true at all, there are schools in the UK that don't have uniforms.
I know that, but the vast majority do have uniforms. If I wanted an illustrative image about education in Britain I wouldn't choose a girl sitting in school in a pink T-shirt. My point is that they should have put more care into sourcing the images, rather than banging a few keywords into Getty which appears to be what they've done. I'm surprised they didn't have them commissioned or just use their own library footage.
