I think Aled is brilliant. He's just *so* lovely, he just makes me smile. He reminds me a bit in his style of a male version of Angela Rippon.

A male Angela Rippon? What wine have you been drinking and how many liters have you had? Is it cheap plonk?

I see what you mean actually. It's almost that low volume, whispering voice that Rippon has as well. Almost as if you could never imagine either of them shouting loud!

I wonder if Aled, the Whispering Giant (that's what we'll call him from now on) has to maintain that whispery volume to protect his singing instrument?

Matt, Ranvir and Laura have definitely won me over for the first hour in the morning! Ranvir has surprised me as she seems natural on Daybreak rather than what she ever did on NWT. Plus I always look forward to waking up to Laura, previously on BBC and now on ITV.

Seen bits of the over 90 minutes and Aled does seem to be settling down and having a good rapport with Lorraine (which I agree with others I can see just going back to Lorraine after about 18 months).

On the subject of the (original) window, they spent a small fortune on voltage-controlled smartglass for it so they could control the light levels during the show. What a waste... (and it's such a brilliant backdrop too.)

It's good that they had these things in place but their issue was with the sun itself which they simply couldn't control. Because of the way the studio faces, when the sun was out, it was right in shot so they obviously had to reduce the light levels. That just lead to it looking like a blue washout which, in my opinion, was an even bigger issue than it being dark for the winter months on air. This isn't the best example because it was in March 2011 I think, but by the time it came round to July/August last year it was much worse.

Kevin O'Sullivan's review of Daybreak in today's Sunday Mirror was quite controversial considering he works on the show with Lorraine reviewing the papers. I'd be surprised if we see him on the show again! For those who have not read it, he's not a fan of the studio, or Aled. I thought after just one week it was a slightly harsh review!

That bus has been 'touring' with Gethin during the show on some sort of 'Team DB' feature.

I'm sure the reason for his article being written that way had nothing to do with him being dropped from 'Lorraine' at the end of August.

And who's he to talk about 'unfunny puns'. It's been his stock-in-trade for years!

That says a lot! I mean the last two years, when Daybreak was at its worst, he has not said a word about it. Sour grapes springs to mind!
