Ah from the little I did hear this makes sense. A shame - his been on it as long as I can remember really. He makes me laugh too - every so often the forecast seems to have ended early ( although how that is possible seeing that it's prerecorded?) and he stands there grining like a cheshire cat! Sorry if that doesn't quite make sense - I know what I'm going on about at least!!
"...although Meridian viewers have to put up with me for a little while longer, this is my last national forecast so thanks for watching. Goodnight"

Wow, genuinely the end of an era - he has been there since the start of national ITV forecasts in 1989.
Would love to see him continue to forecast somewhere else (apart from his Meridian stint) but BBC forecasts seem to have dispensed with the majority of the old school presenters so I'm assuming there's no place for him there either?

Can't talk for Matt Taylor, but I'm pretty sure Susan Powell's was recorded, so surely no reason unless one forecaster wouldn't have had time to produce two separate forecasts.
BBC weather at tvc has 2 studios although they share a clean feed circuit that has to be switched, so it is not possible to do 2 live tv forecasts at the same time. One broadcast must have been recorded.

Yes, with Sian doing the odd day now and again from what I've seen.
A similar tweet from Sian Lloyd as well. I wonder who will present ITV weather now, Alex Beresford seems to do most bulletins thesedays.

It seems shifts have changed - presumably as some presenters are based (totally unnecessarily at Olympic Park). Jay Wynne (as noted above) and Nina Ridge been doing the post News at Ten network bulletins.
Haven't seen John Hammond or Darren Bett for a while - assume holidays (how dare they)

Seen John Hammond doing the afternoon from the Olympic park. On if I can remember Wednesday or Thursday

Actually, I am sort of wrong with the above detail. It is possible to do 2 live weather broadcasts IF the presenter takes their own cue when they see themselves cut to air. As mentioned though, there is only one clean feed circuit.
