M D R -- Apologies if my posting the reply under the question offended you, it has now gone. It was only afterwards I noticed the thread it was meant for. I hope you were just being light-hearted there, and not really going for the criticism on Day 1 of this incarnation of the forum.
But what's wrong with Wales at 6? That was perfect? "Wales at 6, from HTV.. With Jonathan Hill and Lucy Cohen". Little more difficult to think of a working title for the West though..
Oh you meant it to be in here Chris.. Well, I wrote ~

I hate the fact that both ITV1 Wales and ITV1 In the West still have HTV News. It's no longer HTV and HTV is never seen on screens apart from in the Endcaps. What is the point in keeping HTV News?
It's still called HTV News, because HTV are still the source of the news, and it's one of the last vestages of the HTV brand. It still comes from the HTV studios, and HTV employ the reporters. It's the HTV newsrooms across the country that gather the news and it's the links that HTV have made over the last 30-odd years that allow them to get the news and information they do.
ITV-1 Wales and ITV-1 in the West, are just the
on-screen
names for the stations formerly displayed as HTV [Wales] and HTV [West]. HTV still pay their wages [indirectly from Carlton of course now, since they own HTV], and HTV still produce the programmes on ITV-1 Wales and S4C~. ITV-1 Wales is just what the yellow and blue box on the screen has said since October 28th last year, and doesn't mean a great deal more than that.
Yeah, I know. It's just confusing and annoying having two brands on screen. They should have kept HTV Wales and West, but if they really had to change it to ITV1 Wales/In the West, they could have at least completed the transformation!
Well CHris dont you think the HTV name should stay then? We should be trying to encourage them to keep the name dont you think?

I'm sorry, but I hugely object to being lumped in a region with Cornwall and Devon.
You'd be talking about making a TV region where it would take nearly five hours to drive one end to the other.
What an utterly idiotic idea.
Like Grampian you mean? I'd like to see you get from Oban to Lerwick in 5 hours, or from Stornoway to Dundee in 5 hours, without using aircraft. I'd pay you good money to see you make those journeys by car and boat in under 8 or 10 hours..
I do, however, accept your point about the ITV-1 South West and West areas being amalgamated. They are rather different parts of the country as well, and regional news and identities have been formed for decades -- the boundaries of the transmission area, rough as they are, are part of their television consciousness.

I'd love to see the HTV brand stay, but the channel has already changed its name from HTV to ITV1 Wales/West. If it can't go back to being called HTV fully, I think the news programme should be re-named.

There is simply no way it would work ... none at all.

Wrong the company is still called HTV - the onscreen name is ITV1 Wales/in the West. Its still all HTV like TVDragon said!
I think Carlton should be split into 4 regions - Central, Wales, London and South West instead of it being split into 5 regions - Central, London, Wales, West country AND West. It would make more sense!
The SOuth West region could like Central have sub regions like someone else in this thread suggested!
I know that the company is still called HTV. But the on-screen brand seems to be a mix of ITV1 Wales and HTV. The company should stay as HTV, but on screen, they need to decide which to use, to avoid confusing the viewers.
