As read at Produxion.com, apparently ITV will undergo a multi-million pound rebrand by Future Brand English & Pockett later in the year when they find a replacement for John Hardie, their commercial and marketing director who is due to leave soon. So maybe we won't see new idents/hearts for longer than we thought... although the ITV Digital logo might give us some idea as to what the new logo might look like... has anyone seen it yet?!
what's the logo going to be then like ITV 2's with a one above it or something completely diffrent:?

By the way it was goin to happen but I wonder if this means New hearts or the new ITV 1 logo over the top of the previous ITV logo:?
Anyway it should have been called ITV 1 since ITV 2 came along as it makes more sense

Well the BBC changed the name of their first channel from BBC Television Service to BBC 1 when BBC 2 launched, and Sky One was renamed Sky 1 when Sky 2 launched! (and changed back when Sky 2 closed down), so it's logical that they should've changed it in the first place! Does this mean GMG and Channel launching new idents? Does HTV's new ident have ITV on it?

I have just read about this story of ITV being rebranded later in the year as ITV1, on the Media Guardian website.
Hope it doesn't mean that the regional identities of the ITV companies will be lost in the revamp!!
I personally think that the current 'Hearts' idents, designed by Future Brand English and Pockett, with the music by David Dundas, serves it's purpose.
I wonder though on hearing of this rebranding, will the ITV companies be complaining about the change, and how their identies will be worked into the new idents?

Valid point. I reckon they'll have to use emergency non-generic idents - TTTV and YTV already have those! I wonder what'll replace this...

i hope the regions adopt the itv1 identity.
No more Carlton, Meridian, HTV or Yorkshire.
Perhaps maybe a regional theme to the idents, london scenes animated ending up with an itv1 logo different scenes for each region.
Its about time they undid Thatchers curse on ITV.
and it makes sense in a multi-channel world.
