Oh well, cant please everyone, though only change I made to the straps is the font, from Gill Sans to Helvetica to match the News 24 Countdown Numbers...
The countdown font didn't look like Helvetica to me ... more like an italic version of DIN. If it were Helvetica, the sevens would have a curvy stem to them.
I can see a lot of effort has gone into these mocks, but I have to say YUCK.
They are well thought out and presented but the scheme is horrible. I know the titles need changing but I hope the BBC don't go the Daytime route. They could just alter the titles they have - changing the cream to white as has been suggested.
It just all seems to clash to me and doesn't look newsy.
I thought that was quite a good stab... but it seems clear that that colour scheme will make BBC News look like a colder product.
Eliminating the beige from the set has already accomplished half of that job.
I would like to point out again, that although the BBC World set is using much the same colour scheme as the new BBC One set, no-one's complaining about the colour of the titles for BBC World News being inconsistent. They're still red/yellow/beige whatever and I don't see anyone complaining about BBC World News.
