I suppose BBC is okay being a all-world channel. I mean, they have BBC Canada, BBC America etc...
Anyone has to admit that the BBC has a world presence, and has a challenge when they want to balance and contrast being a worldly channel with a regional (England) focus. That's what the balloons did rather well.
This is just a variation on the same theme. So, for trying to do both, which are normally mutually exclusive, I think they do a fine job.
Hmm, they could have used red with orange land masses printed on the t-shirts/jackets/whatever to keep the globe aspect, but I'll reserve judgement until Good Friday.
The only thing that rankles, me being an Xmas ident geek and all that, is this:
How the F**K will they make Xmas idents with this?!?

No... BBC NI use the complete range of idents that are used in England. Generally the same ident that London are using is used in NI. The only balloon idents with recognisable Northern Ireland locations are Greyabbey (NI8) and Dunluce (NI9).
The other local idents were filmed around Strangford Lough and could, really, be anywhere.
Mark.
Oh, I know all the idents are available in NI, its just that in evening peak we seem to see more green scenery in NI then the English city-type ones.
Still haven't answered my question: will 'Northern Ireland' be written on the idents or not?

That's an excellent idea! I'm really impressed with some of the ideas being generated here. Mr Lambie-Nairn should take inspiration from you lot!!
