I was just thinking that myself, although I think it was a very bad case of Autocue failure.
Is 5 News usually as bad as it was just now?

Slight SNAFU to say the least. Technical meltdown! Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Shes getting an absolute pasting on Twitter for it, but shes lucky enough for it to be a short pre-9pm Channel 5 bulletin and she isn't well known so noone will remember in a couple of days.

This really gets on my nerves about Twitter. I didn't see the broadcast, but it sounds like a technical hiccup, which happens all the time in live broadcasting. I think these people on Twitter ought to cut her some slack - I wonder how they'd react if a minor mistake they made at work was plastered all over social media? Was it even her fault? If some kit goes down then there's not really much she can do is there?

You find it everywhere on the internet - people are so rude and ignorant it beggars belief. Take a look at any comments on a news article!
I remember reading the BBC Breakfast Facebook page a while back when they had Fiona Armstrong on for a day to see some reaction - not a single pleasant comment, only things like 'Who is this nobody on the TV? Rubbish effort Breakfast' and 'This is really the last straw with these truly awful presenters, I will never watch the show again!' - plain and utter ignorance. One of the sad things about the internet really.

Absolutely - I've now looked into it in more detail and it seems the autocue failed last night, so the presenter read from the laptop. However, because of the design of the set, the laptop is on a podium to the presenter's right. As a result, Chloe had to look away from the camera in order to read it and unfortunately her hair completely covered her face. It wasn't her fault at all - it was down to the design of the set. If she was able have the laptop in front of her there wouldn't have been a problem.

Why didn't she just step back so it was to her forward-right.

She could have ended up completely off camera that way and it would have been even worse. If she could see a monitor its hard to coordinate yourself back to front is harder than it seems (just see a rubbish weatherperson), bearing in mind she also had to read from the laptop. For a 2 minute update it isn't really worth it. If a half hour bulletin was presented like that then it would rightly be cause for concern. It happens on news channels all the time, especially with breaking news, only you see them looking down into the computer beneath the desk and we see the top of their head instead.
Completely agree with itsrobert's post r.e. Twitter blame. Can anyone honestly say theyve never messed up their job especially when thrown a curve ball like that? Shes just unlucky enough to be doing it on TV- and not just any bulletin but the one before Big Brother where viewers are on Twitter and she'll get mocked. But as I said originally noone will remember it in a few days because shes not well known. A different type of gaffe but Julie Etchingham's 'extermination' cock up isn't affecting her today because noone knew who she was when she did it!

I thought the evening bulletins were pre-recorded close to transmission? In any case, the bulletin in question wasn't Chloe's fault and she handled it well under those circumstances.

They used to be towards the latter end of the Sky contract (nothing to do with Sky and more to do with the cheapness of Desmond), at ITN they are live but done on the CHEAP!
