For those of you not lucky enough to have SVG-enabled browser, here's a PNG:
Any browser that can't view SVGs wouldn't even be able to view Wikipedia properly. If your browser doesn't support it, it's probably outdated.

Why wouldn't it? Wikipedia renders SVGs to PNGs by default.

Most mobile phone web browsers don't do SVGs either.

I'd just like to mention I browse with Opera, which has supported SVG rendering in-browser for years - and so does the mobile browser.

Internet Explorer 8 is an example of a browser that can't render SVG; it still has a large market share.

+1 for Opera.

It may have been noticed when the logo was originally launched with dots, but do you think it was designed to look like a smiling face?

Yes, a while back I did a mock about it:

Weren't the dots originally supposed to show that G.O.L.D. was supposedly an initialism at the time too? I'm sure I read somewhere that they wanted it to mean Go On Laugh Daily. An idea that, rightly, didn't catch on.

That's right. They edited the idents a year or two ago removing it from the logo (it used to be curved in the pink space) and replacing the other lettering with "Stick Something Funny On". The only reference remaining is the seldom promoted website http://www.golaughdaily.co.uk

They tend to use the address goldtvchannel.col.uk when promoting the site thesedays.

The only time I've heard it recently was strapped on the end of an episode of Fawlty Towers I downloaded from Sky Anytime+.

Oh dear!

I didn't realise it was supposed to be a smile, but then again I was annoyed that they tried the backronyn of G.O.L.D. as it as quite an insult to the average intelligence - possibly equal to (if not worse than) "Pal For Active Life" for the dog food in the 1980s which managed to get away with renaming PAL but using the first letter of the . . . you get the idea! Confused
