Channel 5

Not sure about this ident which launched at the weekend. There's simple but effective, and then there's plain and boring. This feels more like the latter. The blocks which normally air pre-news or before serious documentaries is better.

These idents do seem to be a bit hit and miss to be honest. There's some that are quite good, and others (generally the more simplistic ones) that are just a bit bland.

There's also an ident for the Gadegt show knocking around at the moment, again, slightly on the bland side, but different when it comes to the colours and logo.

And this is the world's first they were referring to in that ident, the first ever 360 degree promo:

Damn, that's cool. I'm such a geek over stuff like this!

I know this is pedantry at its worst, but you can view more than 360 degrees in that promo as you're not constrained to one fixed axis.

Yet another new ident for The Gadget Show today. It's fair to say they are plugging this one quite a bit!

Worth noting the DOGs on 5 and 5HD have been really toned down, at times almost unoticeable.....

I'm glad they've inverted the design of the 5 DOG, I've always thought the '5' knocked out looked better.

Yeah it looks a lot better now.

It was like that at the start of the relaunch way back in February 2011, then they changed it because a lot of people complained. But they've toned it down a lot this time around and it looks better now.

Wow, that's just bad.

What don't you like about it? I think it's rather good actually. Top work by the creative team as ever.
