I'd have thought no. Obviously those pirates relied on people being able to find them, and the majority of people simply wont be using their analogue tuners any more.

Just a thought what could be received on the analogue frequencies once uk analogue is switched of for good .could european signals drift over here and appear on analogue?

Seeing as European Analogue signals are also going to be switched off, probably not (for long at least). Stratospheric conditions can make some weird things happen.

The frequencies are to be auctioned off in the next 5 years.

We (and Eire) are the last two countries in Europe to DSO, everything on the near mainland is already digital.

There are no such things as 'analogue' and 'digital' frequencies, after DSO some of the 'analogue frequencies' in a given area are used for Freeview (at high power) and others are to be sold off for 4G use (across Europe) while the fate of others is not decided. Could be more TV, could be more mobile data services. (I suspect the latter) and I also suspect within 15 years from now, terrestrial digital TV reception (in the form it's in now) simply won't exist, the spectrum is far more valuable for 'data' use, i.e. the telcos etc.
