Kaddy Lee-Preston will leave SET tonight after 11 years on the programme. She has been the senior forecaster since the first edition in 2001.

This leaves Rachel Mackley as the only TW based weather presenter, alongside freelancers and support from the Weather Centre in London.

All the best to her. Can't say I'm surprised as she doesn't appear for weeks on end these days.

Where is she off to? Another region or somewhere away from television?

I don't like criticising people, but I have to say Sangeeta is still terrible. Really, really poor. Can hardly read a sentence without fluffing it.

It's lost the plot the whole program now. I've tried to like Sangeeta but I can't, Fred needs to retire also now. Nice set though just a shame about the presenters, how I miss the old team from just a few years ago... Sad

The camera positioning is awful on the Meridian Tonight set, they are obviously trying to give the impression the studio is bigger than it actually is, however making the desk look huge in each frame makes the presenters look little.

You should see it when they have the presenters standing up in front of the set for 'special' occasions! The whole studio set up is rubbish to be honest, sometimes the air-con fails too and you can almost see the Cuprinol dripping off Fred's forehead!

Cost cutting eh? Where will it end...

Cuprinol lol, very good !

It's all about the Titanic tonight on South Today. Watch out for changes to the way the Oxford sub-opt works in particular...

Two separate Meridian program's tonight, Fred and Sangeeta in Southampton for the south and Andrew and Stacey in the studio for the south east. Just like the old days before the regional merger.

Definitely Titanic orientated tonight. Firstly, the regional pictures have been replaced by Titanic related pictures in the opening titles of South Today. No iPlayer clips unfortunately.

Also, BBC South opted out of A Question of Sport this afternoon and replaced it with a regional documentary. Yes you heard me right. A documentary about the impact of the Titanic sinking on the port of Southampton, where a lot of the crew was from. It was truly excellent and was presented well by Bernard Hill (Captain Smith in 1997 movie Titanic). More info at the programmes page here

So although BBC South didn't have the same budget as BBC Northern Ireland, who also made a good effort - see this thread on the TV Home forum, it was nice to see a region put this effort in. Nice to see more practices like this.
