Tonight before Mock the Week, the announcer relates to part of the show ( Scenes we'd like to see, Unusual things for a Continuity Announcer to say) and does the same after it, I think this should be done as much as possible! Makes it sound less 'rigid' and more human, as if the announcer has a interest in the show (even if it's a fake one Wink )

The 1972 version of the 2-on-a-cube is being used on a trailer for 'The 70s' at the moment. No cropping either, just in a 16:9 frame.

Adding an authentic touch too is the use of former BBC2 announcer David Allan's voiceover.

You what?

The trail for 'The 70s' is not bad at all - but, again it seems they didn't want to use genuine archive of the symbol? Reminded of what BBC2 Network did for the 80s Season a while back...

Absolutely nothing wrong with an accurate recreation per se, but there's always something done to them which raises an eyebrow - in this case it's the slight 'film scratch' effect. Anyone who knows their stuff can see that makes little sense. But I digress.

Perhaps the more interesting and noteworthy aspect of the trail is David Allan returning to do the honours for the voice over; brilliant!

Arial! And horribly type-set. Helvetica Bold would be a much more accurate choice, with both lines in all caps and the same size.

That's very much what I was thinking, Thinker. It looks unconvincing.

Helvetica would have indeed been a step up. I'd have perhaps gone for Univers. Both are decidedly better than Arial!

Shouldn't the thread title be changed? The rebrand mentioned was 3 years and 43 pages ago.

The keying on the text is also too clean ... a hint of softness and slight transparency would have been much more authentic even with Arial as the font choice (though I agree it looks a bit power-pointy). Lovely to hear David Allan's voice on it too (especially since a thread a few months back reporting his death!). It would be great if they got him in to do the continuity for the series ...

No!

Ahem, we're still in the 5 and a bit long years of "onwards" aren't we?

This! I very much hope so.

I may have missed discussion on this, but when did this Seascape sting start being used? It looks a lot sharper and more detailed than the original ident - perhaps ready for HD - or would that be supposition on my part?

Oh. My. Word. They've brought back the ultra wonderful original stings?! Would this be Network, Andrew?
